Has anyone come up with a disc brake upgrade combo that keeps the track stock or within reason?

Im not happy with the stanza setup. Way too wide.

Yeah same,

I know that there are a lot of different opinions on this one but I can only speak for what I found.

To get rid of my drum brakes, I originally put a complete Sunny setup in, struts, Lower control arms and steering arms.

Track was ok but had heaps positive camber, people said to use stanza LCA's, so I measured them up and found that they were the same length as the sunny ones and that it was only the length of the ball joint that was different. (maybe there is a particular model of stanza that is different but all the Stanza LCA'a I checked were the same as the sunny).

Ok, so I replace the sunny ball joints with the longer stanza ones and fixed the camber but obviously increased track with heaps.

To keep it all tucked in where it is supposed I think I will have to put adjustable camber tops in and the standard 1200/Sunny (They are the same) ball joints back in.

Good luck with it, I will be keen to see what others have to say.

if 280zx struts are used with a proper spindle I recall it not widening the track very much, what were they... 350zx or something, i think they were 4 lug even.

Lots of info in the Wiki but can anyone shed light on a good brake combo thats a proven swap that hasn't increased track dramatically.

I have used modified R31 struts and brakes with coil over springs. The track is very similar to stock.

s13 brakes increase track by 7mm per side
because you mount the disc over the hub.

but you end up with 250mm vented discs

pretty sure you would have to go a setup like anges if you want to stay close to the stock track and have camber
as all the bigger datsun stuff will give the same track as stanza stuff

only problem is that you need to run bigger wheels with the 120y setup than what you would wiith the same size brakes on a stanza or similar setup

Look at the competition suspension in the download. When we built the 1200 race car that is in my avy we used basically the instructions there but stayed with the 1200 hub instead of machining the custom one. Required a bit different offset on the caliper bracket but used the 240 caliper and brake rotor mounted to the 1200 hub via a custom "adapter" hat. Worked very well, didn't increase the tread width, more brakes than I could use on track. The brake pads literally lasted three to four seasons of 7 race weekend outings. Used 20x8x13 Super Vee fronts and didn't even have fender flares for the first two years that I ran the car. Once I installed the 20x8x13 cantilever slicks I had to make a spacer to get the sidewall away from the steering arm.
