My Current Alternator is a Lucas 16 AC
I have been offered a LUCAS 15 AC
What is the differance please?

Why do the British drink warm beer? They all got Lucas fridges.

Can't you find an Hitachi or other quality Jap replacement alternator?

I use a GA15 alternator, it's 70Amp, internal regulated and internal fan, all you have to do is swap the pulley over.

Even easier: use a B210 or B310 alternator and it is a pure bolt-on, no changing of pulley needed.

But with all "internally regulated" alternator swaps (including Lucas or Nissan) into a 1200, you will need one of these, or its equivalent:
