Just took some weights of some of the gearboxes i have in the garage.
Heres what i got.

56 4 speed (b110 edition)with fork - 17.8kg
60a 5 speed (kpb310 edition) with fork - 24.8kg
63a 5 speed with clutch assembly - 31kg
CA18DET 5 speed (rwd edition) with fork - 43.5kg
T50 JDM AE86 with clutch fork - 31.6kg

I did the 60a first and was yea this is a light as i remember. Then the 56 and it felt like a feather, like i could pick it up with one hand if i pleased. Then the ca box, have to bend with my knees and i dang is it heavy as fark.

Any question why 1200's go so well... didnt think so

very nice. remember to "Always add lightness" whenever possible. Although the 60A 5-speed can increase fuel economy, it won't make a 1200 accelerate faster.

I have a 63A so I'll weigh it and post up the result. Anyone ever weighed a T50?

I just put the 63a gearbox complete with clutch set up (with no gearbox mount) on the scales, 31kg.

The t50 with bellhousing and clutch set up 36.5kg.

any one know the weight of a r30 gear box?
