with clutch setup meaning clutch plate and pressure plate? or just the hydraulic cylinder and fork etc? cause the clutch unit would add a few kilos.

I seem to recall Glenn saying his six speed behind the A15 was 42kg, not bad! about the same as a 5spd 71C!

R30 = heavy
Only reason you'd need a heavy R30 box would be because you're putting a bigger, heavier (more powerful) engine in. Thus the weight of the gearbox is not all that important, because you've upset the balance of a car that pretty much depends on its light weight to do things well. Of course it will accelerate, but it may not handle.

On the other hand, if you're lying under the car trying to lift it, the weight of a gearbox is a CRITICAL factor

speaking of lying under the car putting the gearbox in.
I pulled my 60a out by myself about 6 times in half a day trying to sort my clutch engagemeant which turned out to be the wrong carrier but the pointis that BY MYSELF (60kg 1.7m) scrawney bastard, i can do that. Mind you by the last one i was poked but it was easy none the less. VIVA LE DATSON

I can get the T50 in and out by myself on the ground but it's a struggle. You can tell it's a fair bit heavier than the 60 series I was using before, but the extra ratio and slicker action's worth it.

I just put the 63a gearbox complete with clutch set up (with no gearbox mount) on the scales, 31kg.

The t50 with bellhousing and clutch set up 36.5kg.

Just added that weight as well - I hope dd can find a better spot for it.
