Have I missed something, Have you changed the diff from a h145 to a h165
If you have then you may need to change the yolk on the front of the diff to a sunny one. I have the same problem with the tight tailshaft in our track car. I think mine has to do with our homemade spring seats ( the locating hole is in the wrong place ) It has never caused any problems with it, it only goes on fairly smooth tracks though.

Without knowing just exactly what you have I will make a few guesses from the info provided
1. You have a 1200 car.
2. It has a newer engine, but you used the later crossmember, so it should all be good
3. You have used a 5 speed trans but don't mention which one. None the less, as DD has said, ALL 56, 56A, 60 & 60A series transmissions are the same overall length
4. You still have the H145 differential [?]

If this is the case, then the longer, standard passenger model deiveshaft should fit & work. As far as I know, the driveshaft from 120Y's & B310 Sunny's are also the same length, but they differ in that they have larger universal joints & a larger drive flange at the diff end.

As you now know, the fitting of the H165 rear end from the 1200 ute into a passenger model also requires the use of the shorter Ute driveshaft.

For a moment I had thought that you might have possibly fitted the springs the wrong way around, swapping them end for end, but that's a physical impossibility, unless, .......
Unless the spring works made new top leaves & drilled the center bolt hole after measuring from the wrong end. It is NOT located in the center between the spring eyes.
Is this even a remote possibility?

yet I would be struggling to have 3-5mm which means to get the drive shaft on and off I have to use a large lever and push the drive shaft hard forward which cannot be good!

Same thing happend to me when I lowered my car. I don't really need a prybar but it's really close.

Hi Dodgeman,
Yes, you are correct in your assumptions- A14 endine in a b110 and it still has the H145 rear.
The springs are original and the eyes are untampered with- they have just been flattened and an extra top leaf added.
Interesteing Ange says he had the same problem???
This one really has me stumped- everything on the car has been done properly with absolutely no 'agricultural' type engineering.
I suspect the problem has been exaserbated by fitting the genuine Nissan rear g/box seal as opposed to an aftermarket seal which sat further into the rear of the g/box and no doubt gave the driveshaft just that bit extra of play whereas the Nissan seal has the metal housing and sits prouder in the tailhousing.
Cheers
Dave
