I remember back in 97 when my nieghbour had a couple of mad 1200 utes and at the time there was a sudden 1200 ute crisis due to the american mini truck scene. They don't come any closer to a mini truck than the 1200. I knew a bloke who is 6'2'' and drove a 1200 ute for a few years.
I think that it all comes down to the fact that the old 1200 ute is just BLOODY ACE...

had a ute, had a coupe cause it was cheap at the time and have a sedan. Sedan is the best size wise as that boot on a coupe was useless to carry stuff with the rear seat down, should have been a lift back possibly.

Best and rarest would have to be a wagon for sure. Rare as hens teeth but 1000's are starting to look attrative from one sitting in the back yard for so long.

I had a 1200 wagon , coupe and ute and the wagon was easily my favorite, the back seats folded down for camping, it carried four adults and their luggage and was still a Datsun 1200.

Just gotta brag... My "1400 Bakkie" - as we call it here in South Africa. Purchased brand new in January 2008 for R62000.00 (about US$7750) - with wheels, roll-bar, rubberized bin, towbar, and bin cover, non of which was standard, a 2nd hand tacho (standard 1400 doesn't have a tacho, only the 1400 Champ), free-flow exhaust, JVC sound, totals about R80000.00 (about US$10K). Purchased solely for business purposes but have since found out that the more you drive it, the more you wanna enjoy it... will get me an old pickup for business!!
