so thats a 56series gearbox? I wouldnt be game to run it behind even a mild a15 in case i broke it...

US$850 ebay1US$665 ebay2Plenty more selling on ebay at these sort of prices. The Austin Healy demand is constant and contributes to the prices but the basic fact is that the 5 speed was only fitted to relatively few cars (and virtually none in Oz) so they are priced according to availability. Makes a 63A box for US$375 pretty good buying!

I have seen a couple of 5 spd dogleg boxes recently in the US, they go for $350 - $450 $US. Shipping costs are about $700 US (10 weeks by boat) So from about $1200 you can get a S/hand box from the US. My offer was reasonable and open to negotiations.
