I am using the stock Hitachi setup at the moment. It is quite good with performance and I can flog the car the whole day without the needle of the fuel gauge dropping at all.

Why do you guys prefer Dellortos?
I have a set that have wear in the actuator pump arm. (That arm with the spring around it going down between the throttles in the centre of each carb).Apparently Webers have less moving and wearing components. I have'nt used the Dellortos yet, but just thinking about this worn parts and struggling to get replacements they are utter crap in my eyes.
Rather go Webers then.

Well if your not sure, put a little bit of money aside each week until you decide, that way you wont wast any on mods that you are going to change latter... I think that a lot of people wast so much money because they do a some mods then decide that it wasnt what they wanted. Decide exactly what your going for then do it...

Ok all sounds good i think this motor has forgies and has a jeff taylor head. So it probably will flow enough for the webbers but im still not sure whether to spend that extra money and just be happy the way it is.

Yeah, I totally agree with both ddgonzal, and Dodgeman.

You really have to decide what you want to do with it, if you want to have good power but on a budget then go the Hitachi's or SU's. But if you dont care on $$ then get the Dellortos, but like Doggeman said, you will have to open up the engine and do some $$ worth of work.

I got the twin 40mm sidedraught Dellortos on my ute, it goes really hard, lights up the rears no problem if you dump it at the lights and is just fantastic. BUT it has had about $15k spent on the engine by the previous owner...

Fitting dual sidedraught carbs such as webers to an otherwise stock engine is a total waste of energy as the carbs will flow about twice as much air as the engine could possibly consume.
The net result is never really satisfactory.
The twin factory Hitachi's or a well set up SU install is going to be much more satisfactory for your needs.

I'd gladly take your $1000, pay a months mortgage, food for a fortnight, etc. AND fit your twin carbs. They'd be Dellortos though- better carb than a Weber- imho.

Why can't you do it yourself?

i just want it to go resonably hard and also sound nice
For that, I recommend the factory Twin Hitachi carburetor setup.
