Somebody mentioned the thing i was going to say & that was that the engine was based on a Coventry-Climax design, but the Rootes group engineers couldn't leave well enough alone & buggered it. As it's got the Coventry-Climax hertiage, why not get a 1.5 litre F1 V8 from the 1961-1965 period & fit that. That'd make it interesting. When i started supersprints, somebody had a 12A rotary in one of these, & it needed a sandbag in the front to make it keep the front wheels on the track.

It reminds me a little of an old amphibian buggy from the 80's. But you are right. The more you look at it! it's like a hair lip. I'm trying not to look at it but I can't stop...
Cool donk.

Glad to hear the mixed feelings and views, with some valid points.
I personally like any small car that has potential and looks. There is also a sumbeam and hillman gt version fastback. Sidey has made a good point on the point to point ability of this car (all independent suspension) which was with such a small engine still able to topple the mini coopers with 1275cc in their heyday. I only remenber one other car that did that to the 1300cc corollas in bathurst and that was the 2 door sedan b10. The K series engine is making about 170-180hp I think but a tuned qr24de 180hp (more torque than most 2liters) or even a factory 200hp+ sr20ve. Nissan + Imp = Nimp. There are also several twin cam conversions made on the all alloy 1ltr cooper climax engine here is one in france. ![]() lower roofline specials ;) http://www.theimpclub.co.uk/forum/album_page.php?pic_id=2510 http://www.theimpclub.co.uk/forum/album_page.php?pic_id=2507

Is that Imp or GImp? When the guy goes racing does he 'bring out the gimp'? It should have a zipper over the mouth!

D,
As a 1000 fan I think that car isn't bad at all. It has alot of 'top' but I don't mind the look at all. I haven't seen one of these before. Imp.......rock on

Point to point I think a stock Imp would have it over a stock B10 any day, there cornering ability is up there with the Minis, and with that K series donk I think it would be laying waste to all but the most super modified Porsches.

that looks more like it wants some renault cilo mid rear v6 action in there or possible golf r32 engine... rather a low and slow nissan cedric with a nice engine
