It's quite interesting to observe the effect that our first cars have on the rest of our motoring life.
My first car was a Morris Minor. It was gutless, almost brakeless, featureless & useless. It was also as rusty as hell, although all of that was removed by my stepfather.
That car convinced me to never touch another British car again, a decision that I have NEVER regretted.

I sold it to buy my second car, a 1933 Dodge Coupe. I loved it so much that over 40 years later, I still have it.
The buyer of my Morris succeded in rolling it as he turned into his driveway one day. A mercifull end to a waste of metal.

My first small Datsun came in 1980 & I loved it so much that I still have that too.

My first car was a 1964 Ford Galaxie 2dr.
59,000 miles,paid $400 for it.Of course gas
was only 24.9cents a gallon!
My Wife's first car was a used 1968
Datsun 510 wagon.Paid $700 for it.I hated that car - when I got passed by an early '70's Subaru wagon (while driving up a hill on the highway),I told her that
"It's time to get rid of it".

correct me if i am wrong but a morris is almost the same as a austin and if it wasent for the agreement between austin and some unknown Japanese brand
the now famous a series engine's would never have been born. i have seen a few morris minors with a12 or 14 engines in them probly the best mod you can make :P

The Datsun 1200 ute I drive is a direct imitation of an Austin, and the J15 in it is almost an Austin A40 engine. It was a good place to start for Datsun at the time, so you cant give the old British cars too much curry.

My first car was an LC Torana. Got it for $20.

Drove it on our block once, jumped on the roof and sold it for $50 to a wrecker.

first car was a '74 120y 2door sedan that had been over a give-way sign, cost $20. Learnt to drive in it and eventually rolled it.

first road going car was a '76 120y 4door sedan stocker that I bought off a mate's mum for $150, had it for about a year, was slow as hell but the most fun to drive

My first car was a subaru 1800 wagon... That thing was great. I gave it to my dad, and now the back tailgate is hanging by a few pieces of metal (Rusty rusty). My second car was a '91 Liberty wagon, and then i found the datsuns. I've got a 1200 wagon now that i'm working on. And seeing as I go to uni now, it wont be done up for a while. But, she's going strong, and waiting for me to make her beautiful again (although I think she's beautiful now) Leaking water under the floors, No air-con, not as much power, but way way cooler!!
