To close for comfort and without a engineers, thats pushing it. next time you might not be so lucky. In sydney your car would of been towed away. it never use to be as bad but these days the cops have a number of fines they have to give to make the budget $$$. a friendly warning is becoming a thing of the past. Here is something funny!! my old mate was telling me when he was young and got caught speeding/Drag racing the cops would threaten you by saying they will tell your farther if they see you again. He said you would think twice about doing it next time. These days they just crush your car instead.

Had a similar experiance with my B120 ute when I was living in Brisbane, It had been off the road for 4 years, had just finished painting it and refitting everything, including the A15, all it needed was the exhaust, so I took the plates off the Camry, drove it to the exhaust shop, got the new pipes fitted, and was about 400m from home when I got pulled over. The first thing he said was, 'thats a funny looking red camry wagon!!' The second thing he said was that he had one of these as his first car. We spent about a half hour yacking about what I had done to it, then he told me to piss off home and not do it again.

Talk about going around a corner to fast. The other nite I was out, just washed and dried the car, and thought I'd just give it a quick blast down the road to dry the suspension, you know what I mean. So on the way to the highway, there are nice wide and flat streets in my neigbourhood, I stopped behind a SLk 55AMG Merc, the guy was gunning it when he passed me at the t-junction, and when I pushed him from behind he gave it some stick. The scene was set.
So the next set of lights we do a full launch on green, and I just edge infront of him, barely making the stop at the second set of lights, which were about 400m. He said we should do a rolling start this time around, I don't know what he was thinking as that simply brought my turbo up to speed and I could get better traction that way, I gave him a good and solid 2-3 car hiding. The next stop is at a circle, we wait for a few cars and he's still babbling about going to the highway, when the blue lights come on behind me.
Fcuk!!! So we pull of to clear the entry to the circle, and they wave me down. Now I don't have shoes on me, I'm in PT-shorts with a torn T and I don't have my drivers with me. I was as you said shaking worrying about my car being taken away. The cops get out, there were 4 of them in a doublecab. First thing the one asks me, "Did you do an advanced driving course?". So I lie and say yes. Next thing he's going on about how they were laughing their asses of when they saw me pulling from under the Merc, and how they were wondering how the hell I keep the car going straight with smoke barreling from the rearwheels.
Apparently they have been following me from where I pulled up to the T-junction, that was a good 2 kilometers back. They wanted to stop me to see the car, as one of them saw me racing at the dragstrip, they just haven't been able to catch up to me. I think if it were traffic officers that stopped me I might not have been so lucky. They did check the plates and licence though.

Quote: u have a P plate they pull u over 80% of the time that isnt always true, i have had my p's for over 3 years now and have owned some loud datsuns and other cars that really stand out and i have never been pulled over and i have been in many situations where they could have. i think it mainly depends on the way u drive your car.

Im a coppa here in sydney and if you drive like a dick your going to get done. Especially if your on your Ps. So many young kids are dying on the road from just doing the stupidest things. I have lost a few mates on the road doing stupid things, all of them on their Ps and driving like maniacs. Doesnt matter what your driving, if you drive silly on public roads expect to be punished for it.
Im no stranger to fast cars and dattos either, ive had a CA18det 1600, SR20det KE70, i have currently got a SR20det 1200 ute and sr20det 1600. Theres a time and place for driving fast and its on a track away from solid objects and more importantly innocent people who often become victims to someones stupidity.

I am a firm beliver in 'There is a time and a place for everything'. On the news the other night they showed the young 'hoons' and how they intend to crush cars etc. Fair enough if you are participating in off street drags or seriiously dangerous driving etc, but for the odd burnout or drift providing it is not in built up traffic or school zone shoudn't be catagorized as hooning. I am 35 and still partial to the odd broadside but I am not a hoon. The fine would be worth more than the car I drive.
In the past I have seen and done some pretty stupid things on the road. Mabey even worse than the young fella's today, except without the flash car, and I feel for them that they cant get away with stuff like we used to. My dad tells me tales of what he used to get up to that even in the early 90's I caouldn's get away with.
Be genuinely nice to the police and admit where you are wrong without arrogance and there is a good chance that charges will be reduced or even in some cases become warnings. Remember they have to deal with arrogant pricks on a daily basis and the last thing they need is another one. I have been let off with some stuff I should have lost my licence for due to the attitude I take with police.

Quote: wardat were talking bout in sa, not nsw sorri i didnt really think that it matter what state?? police are always going to be hard on p platers regardless of what state there in, a lot of my mates get pulled over very often and alot get defected for as littler things as no water in the windscreen washer bottle and have a few mates that have had there cars impounded for 3-9 months for liltle burnouts. it all depends on the way u drive.

my brother drives an EF XR^ on his ps and gets pulled over lots coz its lowered, personalised plates and has a nice set of wheels and he gets pulled over every time he drives the thing nearly ("random licence and breathe test". random my arse), whereas me in my B120 with patchy paint and 12" wheels has never been pulled over in the 6 months ive had it on the road.
oh, and i also dont bother putting p plates up, while he does...

Things aren't like they used to be! thats for sure!!!!!
When i was a kid i was caught riding my yz80 up the local bush with a few mates when we were chased by the local copper, Sgt dale, tuns out that all the others got away and i was the only one he caught, he literally kicked me up the ass and told me to walk it home, He knew both my parents but knew my oldman very well, they used to drink at the local pub together, he threatened me he would tell my oldman, and i belived him! scared the sh!t out of me! didn't go riding for about 2 months. Its not like that these days, funny how times change.
It should be a warning! might not be so lucky next time!
