No money, loss of interest, impatient, not practical... The list of possibilities is endless.

FUEL won't run out until 2013. But it will be more expensive by end of year.

I figured they were selling because is so passe, everyone has a CA18DET now, have to get something else to be special?

What makes you say 2013 dd?

Yeah I think that its a case of everyone has got them coupled with they probably arnt that practical for a daily driver, more of a second car... I know with the amount of time and effort that has been put into my ute and is yet to be put it, I dont and never have intended to have it as a daily. So with the rising cost of everything (fuel, insurance, maintenance products, then living expenses like food) its just putting these cars out the window as people just cant afford it... I know that's partly why mine is still in the garage, but I dont care if I'm 50 when I get it on the road, there is no way I'm sellin.

Reasons for selling my CA18DET ute: -

1) The wife hated it - This is mainly a combination of the following reasons.

2) Impractical - I couldn't pick my daughter up from kindy or take the family for a drive (should've buit a coupe).

3) A bitch to drive in traffic - I had a Gikken twin plate heavy duty clutch & after 45min's of peak hour traffic I felt like I needed a knee recon.

4) Maintenance - This comes back to the old addage that "a project car is never finished"... There was always something to do & I never seemed to have enough time.

5) Buit for purpose - I originally built the ute to comete in the SEQ sprint serires.... Again, I just didn't have the time.

6) They're in demand - Mine sold for $12.5K.... In the 1st week.

I wold've kept it for a weekend fun car, but didn't have the garage space.

I really miss going for a blast in the blue ute, but I figure I'll just go & buy a WRX / EVO / B-spec liberty or something soon which will give me the performance I like (granted - Without the character) & I won't have to worry about the above 1, 2, 3 & 4 above.
I imaging cost will be the trade-off though... Nothing gives you bang for your buck like a turbo datsun 1200

1. Girlfriend forgot to take the pill
2. Everyone beeping you on the side of the highway when you have broken down.
3. #### all room in them.
4. Cops dont see the humour in you driving around the neighbourhood with 6 drunk mates in the back of your ute (go nollie!).

and no, I don't own one

breakdown? i never had a breakdown, only broke when i hit the pole, but another coupe is on the way. at least the datto has character, not like a subaru or mit-shit-abishi. get a sedan, wagon or coupe if seating is a problem.

Maybe people build or buy the IDEA of something, rather than what really IS practical for them?

A ute isn't really practical if you have kids who wan't to come for a ride. But 'sometimes' I don't really wan't my boy's with me
( It sets a bad example ).
What may have suited your lifestyle at one stage may not suit you now.

Some people build or buy a car that has wicked specs on paper... button clutch's, big stall converter's, low diff gears, heaps of lag, big cams etc. but when you start driving it round (cos that is what you built it for) you get anoyed.

But, each to their own... Everyone has differnt tastes and driving styles.

As for the wife... Are you gonna make me choose??? (Lol Dear)

...And for every Datto that gets sold... The buyer is another person that is converted (Lol).

But that's the same with everything in the modified car world nowadays. Pretty much everything has been done before or if it hasn't it's no longer allowed.

How many WRXs and VLs do you see for every CA18 1200.

Either way I hope that the ones for sale get finished or looked after if they're already running.
