I think prople are selling for various reasons

My coupe would be useless as a daily driver or the 2nd car for that that matter. Its small, seats only two and if you put the kid in the backs its hard to get in and out, loves fuel, clutch is hard, misses cant drive it, gets undesirable attention and the list goes on.

A fast weekend toy but in the current economic climate an expensive one.

Plus the cost to build / engineer one is rediculous so maybe people cash in.

I think it has a lot to do with foresight that people didn't have (or didnt care about) in the first place, my ute isn't a ca or sr, just a worked a15, I dont have trouble driving it but I know that the missus will (thats why I'm going to make her...lol). I ALWAYS intended for my ute to be my drive once in a blue moon car and just for fun, I'm by no means rich to afford this but I have made the right choices and can walk to work and then have a $2000 Corolla for me and the missus. I dont care if it takes me 1 year or 10 years to get the ute on the road as its a lifelong project and I know that I would lose everything except my girl before my ute. With that said my girl is very understanding and while she hates fast cars, me driving even 2km/h over the limit and EVERYTHING illigal (or FUN), she loves me and understands that it makes me happy and therefor her happy.

But maybe I'm just lucky with my circumstance...

Sorry for the big slab of text, I've been up since 5:30, couldn't sleep... .

I think they're just popular now, and like dd said everyones got one so your no longer THAT unique. I wouldn't mind going for a drive in one though.

maybe some people sub-consciously enjoy building projects more than they enjoy
owning the completed vehicle.

i dunno. that was just a stab in the dark

Ange I would probably fall in that group of people. I enjoyed building my car probably more than owning it. So now I'm constantly fiddling with it, but lately I have started thinking of getting a oldish 1400 bakkie to build...
