The Datsun 1200 sedan has drum brakes on the front, while the coupe has disk brakes. Front disk brakes can be installed onto a 1200 fairly easily.

The easiest way to do it is just to swap the whole front strut assembly with that from either a 1200 coupe or a 120Y. As the 1200 sedan only has a single brake master cylinder, a dual master cylinder should be installed along with the disk brakes. Again, this is a relatively easy swap-over.

hunt around you will find some!
have you tried ebay?

I may have misread, but doesnt he just want to know what parts he needs to replace his current brakes and bring them back up to scratch? not convert from drum to disc? seems as tho he already has discs up front

FRONT:
*Its good practice to clean and grease the sliders in the capilers whenever replacing pads.
*check the caliper piston isn't leaking. If it is, overhaul the caliper.
*measure rotor thickness. replace if under minimum size. If scored, have them measured and machined if there's enough material left on them. otherwise replce.
*while you're there, its a good time to inspect and repack the front wheelbearings if they're still serviceable.
*while you're jacking up the front, also check things like ball joints and tie rods for excessive play, and bushes for wear/cracking.

REAR:
*check wheel cylinders. if leaking, replace.
*check the drums also, and have them machined if scored if they're within the specs for diameter.

OTHER:
flush the brake fuild through. You'll need 2 500ml bottles to do this properly. Just drain the master cylinder reservoirs, fill with new fluid and bleed the system as per normal, until clean freash fluid is coming out at each corner - start at the furtherest corner from the master cylinder.

if you're really keen, you could dissasemble and inspect the master cylinder for pitting and leaking past the cups also. I'd normally only do that if there's reason to suspect a problem with it.

well its a 210 and if its uaus its a 120y if its us that would be a sunny

either way new pads all round with new fluid as well check the hoses as a minimum would be any improvement.

If you want to rebuild your calipers, I did it with my boy (on his Torana) and in our style took ####loads of pics...

link is here - go to the brakes section.

The [US] model '210' is a B310, known to us as the Sunny, but known in some other markets as a 120Y. [1978 to '82]

The Aussie 120Y [1974 to '77] was not sold in the US, but a similar car, known in the US as a B210 was. Yes, they used the chassis code as a model name. It differed from ours with its PB210 [Excellent] front suspension & brakes along with the A13 [1974] & A14 engine [1975 to '77]

Yeah, the US head office blokes had no imagination whatsoever when it came to model names.
The US B210 was a bit of a hybrid between a PB210 Excellent & and a bigger engined 120Y.
The 'Sunny' name was not used in the US.

Aussie model name ................................ US model name.

Datsun1000 [B10] ...................................[not sold in the US]
Datsun 1200 [B110] ............................... Datsun 1200
120Y [B210] ......................................... B210
Sunny [B310] ........................................ 210
