Hey all, a few might remember a while back i was wondering why my ute was always running out of fuel... we concluded that the EFI pump i had wasn't designed for this application or something and that was that.
since then i have been waiting (for over 1 month now) for my holley blue electric fuel pump to show up from ebay. yesterday i plumbed it up and it seems i still have exactly the same problem. ute just runs out of fuel after a short drive. So today i went and checked to see what the regualtor was doing, thinking that it may be to blame, but unfotunately it works well (pressure increases as boost comes on), so i checked the supply line for pressure/volume... Turns out that the pump isn't hardly supplying any fuel at all. with the supply line off, turn pump on and fuel just sorta dribbles out, then stops all together (pump still going) then spurts a bit then stops then dribbles.... etc etc...
So then i thought "oh you must have a fuel filter around the wrong way" so i check, but its fine.
so the only possible thing i can think is that the fuel pickup from the tank is blocked or not big enough or to high or something...
anyone else shed some light?

How have you got your pump wired up and with what sort of wire. Check to see how many amps the pump is drawing. The wiring may not be able to handle it.

do you have a lift pump
would be good if you explained how you have it all set up
those pumps dont suck well, need to be well primed and a lift pump helps if the holley is mounted above the tank
should solid stream of fuel at least half a meter from my experience with them (detatching the hose at the carby and turning the pump on)
other thing that can happen is if the tank isn't breathing properly it can get pressurised (or become a vacuum) restricting fuel flow

pump is wired up with relay. thick gauge wire.
no lift pump. the pump is bolted to the back of the cabin and the inlet to the pump is down from the fuel outlet of the tank.
it looks like it might be fuel tank out, install makeshift lift pump, modify fuel outlet (to 5/16 or even 3/8).
it seems as though everytime i do anything to the old girl it results in 6months off the road...

unfortunately thats the devil within modifications.....i remember going thru everything just like you....
good luck
maybe try hooking a coke bottle up (full of fuel) instead of using the fuel tank....i cant remember what fuel lines you are using, i ended up getting larger ones.

I had a supply problem, with my 1200, I increased the tank pickup to 3/8, as well as a 3/8 steel line from the pump to the engine bay. Is your new pump good? I've heard BAD things about modern holleys. Since they moved production to mexico, the quality has become quite dubious. My (quite old) Holley pump has the mad as pressure. It can fill a 5litre can in no time. Either your pump is shot, or your reg is strangling the supply, OR your fuel pressure gauge is inaccurate.

The pump is ok, this is the third pump i have tried and still have exactly the same problem.
It's not the fault of the reg because it raises pressure as boost rises. there is just not enough fuel comin out of the pump!!!
im using 5/16 hose everywhere except the metal fuel line coming out of the tank, which is stock size of 1/4.

i went through a few holleys
they were terrible at lifting fuel
definately use a lift pump... with a lift pump being low pressure you wont need to increase the outlet size of your tank either... so it saves some work

I have my Holley mounted down below the tank in the spare wheel well. It NEVER has ANY trouble supplying the juice. I guess being below the tank must help.

its not something stupid like a crimped/bashed line under the car? it doesnt sound like it tho because you would still expect pressure just not much flow
