There doesn't seem to be any other readily available rear end that is both stronger & as narrow as the B10 unit, so your only real option is to narrow something.
My personal suggestion, particularly if you are running an A series engine is to do the number on a H165 rear end from a series 1 or 2 Bluebird [910]. The wagon rear end might be better as it doesn't have all that extra suspension bracketry that sedans have. Make sure it's from a 5 speed or auto trans car as the 4 speed models had H190's These rear ends are quite wide, which means that after the axle shaft is shortened, it will be large enough in diameter to respline, but a 1200 Ute axle shaft will not as it will need shortening only a small amount & at this point the shaft is down to the minor diametor of the spline. The 910 Bluebird rear ends are also plentifull & cheap. The TRX & LX models came with disc brakes but will need 14" wheels, but in a KB10, rear disk brakes would be completely un-necessary.

h165 out of a 1200 ute or some bluebirds, will need shortening and you can get lsd's and disc brake conversions for them
other options could be mitsubishi scorpion they have a disc brake setup and lsd's should be availible [edit] d'man beat me to it and described it better

I believe the kb10 or any K deserves the best. A borg warner or other cast iron/steel diff doesnt do the K justice in my opinion as datsuns are designed to be light and peppy.
I suggest since the aussie dollar is strong to think about spendind on a brand new winters diff (all alloy) and adapt skyline capipers and disc to the rear. They can be found for around 800-1000 dollars, parts are off the shelf and will fit in a box easily as they 3 piece modular in design. There is a race junk or spare parts webpage somewhere in the us but cant find it now. They have all kinds of things like 2 speed lenco clutchesless gearboxes and you name it. the red one is a sprintcar diff datto1000wagon
it is splined to suit suspension pickup, splined wheels etc this is a "live" axle we use a smaller version for our minisprints the yellow one i'm not sure-nascar? or road racing of soughts? i can't see am engineer allowing this conversion but a cracker idea just the same! I think billet mounts similar to lowering blocks where there is contact with the axle tubes and steel U bolts with urethane or polypropelene material to stop any damage.
Conehead right on all counts!!! but I stuffed up for instead of on it should read only deserve the best. Considering the price, they have gone down in value and with carbon composite leaf springs and all alloy engine on straight LPG you are looking at a sub 600kg car.

Ive seen plenty of hot rods with quick change rear ends and normal 5 star pattern wheels. Imagine a K with this sticking out from underneath (no spare wheel well of course!)
setup. ![]() here are the axle tube options for the road ![]() Datsuns where weapons during Pearl Harbour hence the change to the nissan name to some extent later on. Cones do you know if 6 to 1 ratio is available for the bigger ones? It would be good then for a direct driven electric engine You can view topic.
