has anyone shaved their tailgates? i want some tips plz.... is there a neat way to latch it from the inside so you can still open n close it? also has anyone welded it shut?

ive just shaved the tail but havnt sorted the latch yet im planning on using a modern ute mechanism

I shaved the handles off mine and custom fitted a latching system from a 88ish hilux. I used a chrome handle mounted on the inside panel and it works and looks mint. I can post pics and a basic how to if ppl want.

dad and i shaved the latches off my ute. we went for a "different" locking device to your usual solution to the problem at hand. hooked up a little air compressor on the inside walls of the tray and ran air lines through the tailgate to a few lil cylinders. just push a button and they unlock n u can lower the tailgate. looks rad and not to mention sounds cool. many a people seem to have a wtf was that expression after they hear and see it
