#1 Nissan G60 Patrol and Datsun 1000
reuby_tuesday Posted on: 2008/7/8 18:01
Hands up who knew that the Nissan patrol G60 and the datsun 1000 shared stuff in common? I didnt

We have just been given a G60 patrol to cut up for training. Its a bit sad cause I have a soft spot for these, but its totally shagged.

So I went to have a look, and I found that they share these parts

front flexible brake lines
the blocks that split the lines for the drums are the same
headlight relay
alternator regulator
ignition barrell
door locks
exterior door handles
interor door handles
window winder and mechanism
door lock mechanism and door catch
wiper motor
wiper arms

and these bits are very similar and could be used
sun visors
rear view mirror
windscreen squirter button
windscreen demister vents
wiper control switch
choke control switch

thats all that i could see at the moment, cause its alittle dark. (I am on night shift). When I am on days next, Ill have a damn good look and report back.

They look like this one I found on the net

You can see the door handles and the wipers in the pic.

just did some more research

They were sold from 1960 - 1979 so its no wonder they share bits.

Nice to know of another source of parts

Love it love the humor DD

Yeah i didnt think about it like that. Perhaps thats the reason that the P40 (donk in G60) went so well for its age. It kicked the butt of the landcruiser of the time (55 series), and was cheaper to boot.

Perhaps the P40 should have been shoehorned in to the 1000 for the swap of interor bits. Oh yeah the P40 was a 4.0l straight 6 petrol pushrod monster.

And from what I recall they loved petrol.

There is no doubt that the old 4wd petrols loved the fuel. It just wasnt a concern. Their purpose was torque and HP which that had in spades, not the economy that the A-series was designed for.

but yeah hard to believe that two cars for far apart from each other in every way, shared so many bits.
Hec there may be more but I will have a good look in the daylight next week.

A-Series out P-40 in Just got a mental picture of Datto 1000 lying nose down, wheels sticking straight out and two blokes looking at with one saying" Handles like crap, drinks the fuel, but does wicked burn-outs"
