So I swapped the clutch pedal for the more beefy MADDAT one and still had the same issue, turns out the gearbox slave cylinder was seized open therefore I was unable to push it in...
Replaced that with a new one and ....... Drumroll please
Drove my car for the first timE !
Very happy
Up and down forward and back in the garage in a straight line thanks to the fact that my steering box is stuffed and I can barely turn the steering wheel.. So that's next on the list..
Anyone have any experiences rebuilding or replacing these.. Maybe even hints on a place to go in Sydney would be really helpful?

Hard slog removing the steering column/gearbox assembly but got it out over the weekend, one bolt on the steering rack would not budge but I used the two hammer method as described in the wiki
Put it all back together and it's functions really smoothly now.
Test drive tomorrow

Blown ball joint didn't cut it
Bought new ones only to find out there are two types , and the type I had bought were wrong..

Praying that I find new ones before datsun day.. Bursons see, to be the place to go, they reckon they will arrive tomorrow.. Fingers crossed..
