CATCHING UP MY BUILD THREAD..
had a great run this weekend, spent saturday working on wiring which i have no idea on ????? this made it very interesting but was very productive, i had my master wirerer( is that a word?) puffy who has done his fair share of cars, so armed with electrical tape, laptops, datsun manuals, a partial 4age loom and molested datsun 1200 loom we set of on our merry way armed with redbull and solder we pretty much got the thing wired and the two looms spliced together engine wise.. dash and accessories will be much later down the track.. AT TIMES IT WAS LIKE AN ARCHEALOGICAL DIG TRYING TO DECYPHER CRYPTIC CODES :( when not helping with the wiring i put new spark plugs in the beast and treated it to new oil and filter(which will only be run through the engine for start-up before being dumped) and put my bailey channels in my doors, and re-painted my ignition barrel. pics polished up starter motor shield bolted up ![]() detail of the right angles westside did on my radiator ![]() what a mess1 ![]() what a mess2 ![]() interior ![]() ignition barrel sanded ![]() after much mess and effort we cranked the engine which was a refreshing change for a car that has sat still and silent for so long. im down a coil to dizzy lead which is holding things up :( and we realised we are missing on important plug off the back of the ecu which when i bought the loom i was told i didnt need. that meant a trip to pick and payless today to pull apart toyota camrys for their precious bounty of 12pin ecu plugs and circuit open relays... yay

more work on the wiring last night, armed with my new leads and open relays we were able to power up the ecu and get spark to the engine and kicking over using key ignition meaning we have spliced the original datsun loom to the ae92 corolla loom, this is great progress and then worked on tidying up the loom inside the cabin.. Also drained the fuel tank because god knows how long the fuel has been in there, fresh petrol for start-up
here are a few pics of last nights adventures :)me on the left ![]() ![]() being a fwd loom and the fact im mounting my battery in behind the passenger seat and rear firewall meant that alot of the wiring had to be lengthened to reach. This has added to the enormity of the wiring job. ![]() this leaves me with a return fuel line to run, radiator to install, and line up the dizzy and im close to starting the thing.. My goal is to have this done by my birthday which is on friday..... we shall see if i can achieve this goal.. stay tuned

Well I had a mammoth effort on Tuesday, Last chance before my b'day to work on the car
bought new power cable, remove starter motor an replace stock lead with new thicker/longer lead. 10 litres of new petrol in mount return line run power to fuel pump replace vacuum hoses on intake manifold buy clamps, install radiator, hoses and fill up set up distributor new intake and exhaust gaskets fit alt, and alt belt go over everything and tighten bolts check for leaks etc etc ![]() here is an example of the rubber bike tube i used to stretch over the length of the radiator between and over the two mounting posts as this will sit on my lower radiator support and i dont want vibration or rattles from metal on metal. crazy day but by about 7pm it was time to give it a kick over and see if we had created something... Unfortunately no, meaning i haven't achieved my goal of getting the car started by my birthday (today), seems we have wiring issues to the injectors meaning they are not pulsing. They have power but are not getting the ground signal by the ECU to fire the injectors. At least thats what we think is the problem at this stage.. So i now have a complete engine that cranks over but does not fire, it has spark, a powered Ecu, coil/ign/dizzy all getting power, fuel pump is operational, radiator all good etc so at this stage im very very close.. so close yet so far :( ![]()
