I am currently starting to do 4AGE into a 1200 ute and would love to see how you make your engine mounts!

as for fitting flares there are a few issues but pepper on here helped me alot, ive actually cut my rear quarter gaurds to accept the flares a bit better and give more room otherwise your only adding width. mounting them im still trying to find bolts i like (eg allen keys heads) and then the rubber you can get from clarks rubber etc to place in between the flare and body.
hope that helps.

engine mounts,
yes im using the standard crossmember, if you go back a fair few pages you will see some cardboard mock-ups i used as practice to see if everything would fit and clear. pretty straight forward plate steel no fancy shapes etc.

Had a go at restoring my headlights last night, they have been stored away since i bought the car ( many moons ago) wrapped in newspaper as parts that came with the car. This meant i was unsure of the condition and when i unwrapped them i was not surprised to see them covered in dust, rust, and overspray.
![]() There are a few parts to the headlights, a headlight cup that the sealed unit sits in, For those younguns the headlight and globe are the one piece! A chrome trim that screw down the headlight into the headlight cup and then the adjusting screws and springs that mount the headlight to the car itself. ![]() ![]() A light sand and wipe down with prepsol will allow the paint to stick better to the surface ![]() made in japan yo! ![]() polished up the chrome trims using Autosol which removed all overspray and came up a treat. ![]() I then painted up the headlight cups in silver to look cleaner but not stand out too much against the white paint as opposed to black. I also painted up the adjusting screws/fittings and springs in black to look new again. ![]() time to install and crack a beer and sit back and soak in the beauty ![]() ![]()

Went over everything again yesterday, bought a can of "start ya bastard" and guess what???????
it kicked over and the engine started!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0St5ddxTDzc Finally an engine in the car for the first time since i started this project 3 years ago.... it sounds pretty solid and didnt throw alot of crap out on startup which i thought would happen as its been sitting still for so long. SO happy as it means we have peiced it together correctly, it feels like a car now that there is a functioning engine in the car.. Thanks again to puffy for his awesome help with wiring. This has given me more motivation to work on the car, Getting the engine running has been a major hurdle in this project. Im now going to strip back the loom and tidy up all the wiring so it is as minimal as possible in the engine bay.

spent some time over the weekend on the wiring, now that im confident of the wiring since the car started its time to strip it back and clean it up. nice and neat
First thing was to mount the Ecu in the passenger footwell, i decided to use some rubber to avoid vibration of the Ecu. ![]() it was my plan to use a glue to apply the rubber to the footwell of the car. and attach the ecu by using velcro on both the rubber and ecu. this means it is a solid mount but can be removed if i need to relatively easy. ![]() ![]()

yay for holidays,
ive made a bit of progress lately, spent another day on cleaning up wiring and wrapping what wiring there is left in the engine bay in conduit etc. ![]() fitted up my thermofan, fits my radiator and sits in the radiator shroud perfectly. easy to fit with four nylon screws through the fins and circular locking nuts on the back of radiator to spread the pressure evenly without damaging the fins. Also fitted up my front indicators. ![]() made up a radiator mounting bracket using flat aluminium plate, once made up it was polished up. Just need to find a suitable rubber for the mount to eliminate vibration. ![]() also fitted up my brand new tail lights with my freshly painted corner bumpers. beginning to look like a car now :) ![]() ![]()

hit up the supercheap sales with some gift cards from santa!!!
picked up some speednuts so i could attach my quarter blinkers ![]() ![]() ![]() also got some a great deal on 4ltrs of chassis black to paint my undercarriage. ![]() then just mucked around , cable tied an old grill on and fiddled with my front lip again? still unsure of this at the moment, some times i love it??? ![]() You can view topic.
