Yeah definitely. The hubbies are in my shed so they didn't get damaged. No point having them on yet until after engineering.

Okay, quick update.
Went and checked out the car today. Couple of things to complete. Getting a custom overflow tank made up to go behind grille (no other place for it), and getting tacho sent away for analogue to digital conversion, to work with the SR. No aftermarket gauges except for boost in this build. A few recent pics under the hood, basically she is ready to roll. So close now I'm as toey as a roman sandal! Also below is a pic of my car a few months ago in this months Zoom magazine, in the build section. Have to say a big thanks to Scott @ MADDAT who has helped me finish this car off with the minimum of headaches. Very happy with all the work he has carried out in fabrication and organising other trades as well. Air con is up and running, and it's icy cold! Definitely one of the best finds through this site, unfortunately at the expense of another car. But it's all smiles here, car shold be in crash shop next week, and the gaurds don't have to be cut as much as I initially thought. Very happy. Things are getting ridiculously close. Most parts are back in to the car. Exhaust is complete and various other small things completed since last update. Intake is coming along with pipework to be finalised in the next few days. Electrical should be finished over the weekend for an early week start-up hopefully. Then she will be sent off to the A/C chap to get the pipework custom made and gassed up ready for Summer cruising! Still the tyre scrape issue to sort then off to engineering and Regency *gulp*...
Some pics from today: Maxima airbox, for legal and stealth reasons. ![]() Small clearance issue with A/C but nothing that can't be sorted with a welder. ![]() New dump pipe. ![]() Under bonnet donut. ![]() Brake bias, filter & Turbosmart plumb-back BOV. ![]() Exhaust etc. ![]() ![]() ![]() The original tip, at my request... ![]()

Ha,, originally I was going to remove the pin stripe and relocate the indicator, but that would have ruined it now with the way it has gone.
As for engineering, happy to tell. At the start I got quoted $3-3500 from a chap, who as it turns out, it would have been more like $4-4500 with his rates and excess charges. I recently got in contact with the person I wanted to engineer it in the first place. He was never available, but as luck would have it, he could help and will be around $2500. Still a lot of money, but it will be worth it knowing it's safe and fully insured. I think eveyone has pu their rate up as it is so tight in SA....

Oh I see. Yeah best to play it safe I say. That black pin stripe down the side is really effective definitely works well where it is.
Around about how much are you expecting the engineering to cost? (you don't have to answer that if you don't want).

Thanks mate, I'm happy.
No major bodywork. I've run 195's before but these 205's are scraping the front of the guard. I need to find a good panel beater to cut & re-shape it, hopefully (?) with minor paint work needed. Its not much, but if I hit a bump while turning it could do some real damage the way it is. I'll definitely get this all tuned and running right as well, after that I'll be happy to bring it out on the first cruise.

Hey those look really good. What do you mean by bodywork? She looks good as it is. It'd be good to see this out on a cruise. I can make the next one but there are too many little issues with my car so I'm not going to chance it.

I asked the question a few weeks ago on 15" hubcaps but decided to order some anyway and bite the bullet if they didn't fit... Well they came in this week. Trial fitted them to my dads car with stock 15" rims and it didn't look good, they were hitting the rim. His car is front wheel drive so thought it may be the offset. Dropped through today to check on the Sunny to be sure...
![]() No dramas. Pretty happy with the style, almost the same as the original (as close as I could find), and a nice tight fit. Scratched the f*** out of the fresh powder coating but all good. I'll be making a new centre to replace the existing one so will all be one colour. Probably a month, maybe a bit more until it will be started under its own power, then bodywork & engineering!
