Haha, thanks. That was actually the 3rd and final relocation. That solenoid is one noisy unit. But this spot is almost completely hidden, and from the cab *silence*
Yours is coming along amazingly! A lot more attention to detail than I could hope for. Maybe if I do a respray I might make things more aesthetic under the hood.

And as for the pics, definitely. Though I may need some nice wheels to stand next to the 120Y, or become part of the background!

Hi all,

It's been a while since I have updated this. Still been lurking around the site when I get the chance, checking out the build threads as it still gives me inspiration to tinker on my bus...

Since my last update I have been through Regency and had the modifications given the tick of approval from motor reg!! :)
All in all it was a breeze, given it was my first time through. The guy who checked it was pretty easy going. Some of the papers didn't have the perfect wording, but the supervisor (who writes the initial approval for modification), was there and okayed the queries he had; such as eyebrow height and emissions tests, which were not there.
I failed on first attempt, as the drivers seatbelt inertia reel failed to engage repeatedly. Which was not a bad thing, prefer to know now rather than later. Seatbelts replaced, and my Dad took it through for second inspection and papers were issued for registration!
Very happy.

Since then I have had a Greddy Profec B added to help spiking of boost (thanks to SRB210 for the helpful assistance), and a Nistune module added, as the car was running rich and had issues with lurching into corners when backed off at high revs. All sorted now and very happy with results.

I just grabbed a new grille from a wrecker up here. Didn't really need it, but it was different and Sunny gear doesn't pop up too often so I grab things if I have the chance.

The new grille is growing on me but maybe I am used to the original as it is very different. It's not in yet as the lights hit the overflow and relocated washer bottle behind. So I want to make sure I'm happy before I make the effort to change.
It is possible to put the fog lights in the original grille; I have done a bad 'paint' edit to see.
Have a look at the pics and tell me what you think.
Edit: had another look- I think I like the new one! Looks a bit more like a 1200 front I reckon. The GF reckons it looks less sporty which can only be a bonus on this car..

Thanks heaps for the positive feedback guys! Really happy with the way the car drives. So easy to putt around in but with the power to use when I need it. Had to take it up Willunga hill on the way to testing and I barely noticed it. I think it was a 2nd gear hill in the old Sunny!

As for the pics, definitely be taking some nicer ones when I get time, but want to finish the interior off first.

Progress as of Friday- I took it down to Goolwa aerodrome to do Lane change and brake tests.
Lane change she went through at ~120kph or a bit more. No problems. I thought he was practising as it looked so stable and smooth, but he was finished. Engineer couldn't be happier, claiming he wishes all cars were so easy to test- as far as set-up goes.

The braking tests went pretty smoothly too. We did the mandatory 15 tests, constantly adjusting the rear bias to stop rear lock up. Stopped tested the temps, and all were below 100 degrees C. Did about another 15 stops to finalise set-up with one of the last ones @ 1.8s 60-0kph. Still no brake fade.
We did one stop from 100-0kph @ 2.7s; 105% braking force, 30kg pedal pressure. From what engineer was saying, it brakes quicker than the grip levels, something like that. All I know is, you shouldn't try it without a seatbelt, it's like hitting a wall!
On that, i don't know if I wrote the numbers down wrong; but I had a look in a wheels magazine, and most of the cars were doing 100-0kph in the 4.5s mark. Quickest was a Golf @4s flat. Does that seem right? It is a light car, but still, seems like a huge difference?

Anyway, it went well and the report should say all good things. I'm now waiting for that so I can book in Regency, hopefully before Christmas. Not sure on my chances.

On a side note. I have had quite a few offers to buy the car already, all without knowing of the conversion. And a heap of 'nice Sunny' etc comments which is cool. They must have got a bit more popular since my last one 5 or so years ago, I suppose retro is in at the moment.

Well, thanks for reading. Will update on the Regency progress as it comes along. Never had to go through before so should be interesting to see if the horror stories are true... I'm hoping with the look of the car and my non-boyracer attitude, I might not cop it too bad. We'll see!

WOOOWWWW...that car looks awesome brother...u are officially my favorite person on here....b310s are my fav sunnys and this is the nicest and cleanest swap ive ever seen!! Congrats mate!!

Awesome ride mate.
Very clean sleeper, love cars that are this neat and tidy and look original still.
A nice picture that always looks good is to get someone to take a photo of you from a car next you when travelling along the highway or whatever.
Just a thought

Thanks for the comments. Never been one for too much bling so the sleeper suits me quite well.
As for the RAA badge, my mate has one and he won't part with it for all my offers. Damn heirloom he reckons!
I know it was in zoom, but it didnt have the plates on or hubbies, plus its not hot4s. Pretty sure it will pass most by without a second look. Except a semi-intoxicated man down the bay who picked it and it wasnt even moving. Of course I denied all and told him it was still an A12, just lucky with the plates...

I had the engineer over tonight and it appears he's happy with most things. As my crash repairer pointed out this arvo, the engineer also picked, my EQ has to move for crash impact reasons. Can't say I thought about it as I have seen many a deck mounted there in various cars. Not going to risk not passing so will mount in centre console area.
