You can use the h190 diff out of a S12 Gazelle, the top trailing arm mounts line up but the bottom ones have to be modified to suit. Other ways are to use a Series 3 Bluebird Wagon diff & get mounts welded on, or the later R31 Skyline diff narrowed & the mounts modifed. I went a different way to get a H190, which is C120 Vanette housing, but it only has small axles & I was only putting an SR20DE ahead of it for the street.
Using the Gazelle diff means you can run later model offsets (less dish) to bring the wheels back into the body, you could probably use Series 3 Bluebird or R31 Pintara/Skyline Struts as the basis for your front suspension & be able to use the same offset wheels at both ends. Or just run big arse flares . I've used the bulge out of a Mazda 323/Ford Laser to create the front flares for my Sunny Coupe.
I noticed you put down S13 struts as a possibility for front suspension, this would allow you to run the later offsets & keep the wheels under the guards.

Would it be possible to get a late model Nissan Micra, fit the 1.8 litre motor from a Tiida & then turbocharged it? Your answer must include parts numbers for the conversion. You have 12 months. Commence.

Some good questions to start with.....

Diff..... I run a H190. The diff is a little wide, but I do have 50mm flares each side and run extra offset on the rear wheels.

Brakes..... Front - Mazda RX7 series IV
Rear - Pintara Discs with VL Commodore Calipers

I have run a Pulsar radiator in the past (still have it in the shed).... now running a custom made readiator with PWR core.

I will see if I can get the camera working tomorrow for some pics.

Was waiting for that one!! I guess I'm just not in the cool club (could be the reason I drive a sunny...)

is that front spoiler original? seems weird it would have just that one mod

Oh yeah, original downforce producing spoiler. I plan on painting it carbon fibre

You can fit an intercooler behind the grill, but you will need to trim the back side of the grill.

My thoughts exactly!! Just where those bottom flat bits protrude.
Questions, where do I start! Brakes? S13 Silvia? Rear Diff? Bluebird or Skyline? Radiator? Good to see the Sunny is still alive and well, I think they're a little bit overlooked! And am keen to see some pics,

Minor update:
I took the sunny out to the engineers workshop and he was pretty impressed with its condition. With the age of the car, it will still need a rigidity test for the chassis, but he doesn't see any dramas. All the paperwork has been filled out, to be put forward to the proper authorities next week. The guy seems to know what needs to happen, so hopefully it will all go smoothly. I'm just happy to finally have got things in the pipeline!!

I prefer the look of the round headlight also....good choice to stay with it.

You can fit an intercooler behind the grill, but you will need to trim the back side of the grill.

Sunny Intercooler

I have removed my old FJ from the Sunny and getting close to have the SR conversion finished. Unfortunately, I haven't had time for any photos but will try to update soon.

If you have any questions - just yell out.

Mark

i always prefered the round headlight treatment for sunnys. Might have less room and less areodynamics but looks a damn sight better, and with 10kw at the wheels in a sunny, i dont see the aero dynamics doing much from the front clip alone.

Thanks for the comments guys..

Haha, aerodynamics & sunnys. Not sure they belong in the same sentence. I'll be sticking with the round front, it's growing on me!
I had a look behind the grille and it is definitely tighter compared to the '80s model, but I should squeeze an intercooler in there I'd think..
Has anyone had experience with water to air coolers on the SR? If so what did you use and how were the results?

Another minor update:
Engine now sitting at the oldies, where the bulk of the work will take place (cheers dad!).

I purchased it from Anthony at Grand Auto who has helped me out with parts since I started driving basically! It came out of a 180sx with a readout of 180kw at the rears. Apparently it has had a remap and a roller bearing turbo installed.
Plug: Grand Auto Wreckers

Anthony also has put me on to another engineer (2 months chasing a certain engineer, and not 1 call back is a little frustrating!!), and things are starting to happen. The car is going in Friday to have the once over on the hoist, and then things will get underway with all the legalites.
Will update after tomorrow, but not much else will happen until i get back from holidays late September.
