Etch primer wont seal it up its just to allow better adhesion for your undercoat Some undercoats will shrink if applied to bare metal etch is the binder between metal and undercoat. Especially true with acrylics as they dont harden.

Hi there, sorry to hijack, not quite a 1200, but now own the original Fury 120y. Jamie built an earlier one, that wasn't completed, but ready for the LZ motor, the second shell had the LZ fitted for the 1982 /83Alpine, then in 1984 Jamie and Dave Bailey stuck the Blydenstein FJ24 in it just to beat the BDA Escorts, on times it did so very nicely.
The car is still in Brisbane, and being restored to it's 1984 spec, with Jamie Drummond's help and guidance, and the FJ is getting a major freshen up. It should be ready approx mid 2009. Any questions PM me. I dont know how to post pics, but can email some that I have of it.
Jason
I also have a couple of Dato Fairlady's/Sports 2000's and a prod sports Datun 280 Z, ( not a ZX), circuit car.
