is this the same A12 on your youtube video doing the burnout? It sounded pretty good

yep it's the same A12 as in the video ... also hoping to have a better vid in the near future when the lsd goes back in

Like the rocker-cover too, what interests me is the "DATSUN" part is the almost the same cast as the B10 guard badge

guess it does ? the cover is from a south african 'pulsar' i believe. one of our friendly ZA members helped out with this cover, and a few for a couple other members a while ago.

What make is the intake manifold and did you make your own air cleaner housing? It looks like it's a shared air cleaner

the intake manifold is a Redline item.
the air cleaner is an off the shelf item from unifilter ... have a look here for some better pics unifilter thread

The throttle shaft is pretty long too it's almost touching the firewall

your not wrong there !! i look at it all the time and think to myself "i should cut that back ... one day ?!!?" i might look at it this week while i'm making up a throttle cable mount ?!

Quote:
You should put the throttle lever of the first carbie onto the outside- closest to the radiator

would've been the way to go way back when i put it together ... there was a reason that i didn't tho ? cant remember why ?? will probably just take to the shaft with the dremel tho, and cut the rear bit off.
even tho it's near the fire wall it's never hit it, so i've never fixed it

they only allow the infra-red light to pass through the lens so you'll see bright as day with a set of night vision goggles. That reminds me I always wanted to buy a set

well looks like it was a productive few hours.

Just a quick one, what do the shiny red aliminimum spacers do for the rocker gear?

They replace the standard springs obviously, but for what purpose, other than bling?

at high RPM opperation its possible for the rocker to move its way off the valve if the spring compresses, the spacers dont let this happen

high rpm as in above 8500rpm?

so the rocker arm is at risk of shifting off the top of the valve when the spring compresses? Not sure what you mean.

So if you are reving beyond the ability of the spring to return to 'relaxed' before it needs to be compressed again, then spacers keep the rocker arm straight.

So by my logic, these really become useful when you are reving the motor to its absolute peak for extended peroids of time.

Wouldnt stiffer valve springs and or double/triple springs relieve this problem?

its not the actuall valve spring ... its the thin spring on the rocker shaft. the spacers elliminate the chance of the rocker "wondering" back and forth along the rocker shaft, and the chance of the rocker slipping of the valve stem top.
as for bling the invention of a clear rocker cover would do it but atm you can only really see a little of the first one thru the oil cap

righto i get it now. so its the springs along the rockers not the valve springs. gotcha.

So at what sort of situation does this become a problem? Perhaps I need to speak to mike about some more bling for mine.

(I get my new pushrods for the roller rockers tommrrow! yay!!)

and i have always wanted a clear rocker cover and clear dizzy cap. its a pity that they dissapeared with the invention of elec controlled ingnition

Looking at those lights again.

One is a driving spot lamp and one is a cornering lamp. Am I right?
