OK, it took longer than I thought so I just got home now and don't have much in the way of pics. I did turn up the log book, 1976 to present with a few breaks..most notably that it has not been run(or used) since 2000. I made the deal for it two years ago but it was still being used as a cabinet in the previous owners garage so after loading all the crap out of it I wandered through his barn(he has another 1200 in there) a row of 240Zs and 1600/2000 roadsters also. Absolutely awesome!. I'll post some pics tomorrow of before and after I wash it and start vaccuuming the "crap" out of it!

EDIT: a quick pic for the lookers!

All right, after I dropped it in the garage the other night I went to bed :). After I got home from work on Tuesday night I started pulling the panels off and cleaning up eight years of idleness. It was stuffed into the previous owners garage in July of Y2K.

How it looked yesterday before I started:

I started with a simple bath then started pulling panels off:

I still had plenty of time so I started bagging the cat hair(yech!) and "crap" off the floors. I hosed everything off inside and out, after the floors were pretty clean; enough that the garage doesn't smell ;) it went back inside and I started removing more parts. My basement is about full of MK1 VW parts but I'll have to segregate some space for this...

I stopped there Tuesday night. I have to go get some Lexan at some point, the windows are very yellowed and the side windows are both broken. Be better to replace it all than mess with the old Plexi!

Not usual to have a perfect snapshot of a vintage car with its full results NEARLY from the day it started racing!

BTW: I can't find and the previous owner doesn't think he has the first log book, the car was damaged during new car delivery and was written off so it has pretty much always been a racer.

Congratulations on the acquisition of that car. The first time I saw that car I was racing against it at Pueblo in about 1984. It was driven by a fellow named Dave Miller from Colorado Springs.

The rear is probably out of a 510 wagon, as those had the same center as a 240 I believe.

The last time I ran against it a fellow named Darryl ran it. He worked at a garage in Lakewood, that was about 1994 at Second Creek Raceway.

If you need info or help finding stuff PM and I'll hook you up with guys that can help.

I wonder why so many Datsun owners are also either Dodge owners, or at least Mopar dedicated as well.
The Ram truck outside & the sign on the left wall are all too obvious.

Datsun & Dodge, a winning combo.

Judging by the log book, you witnessed Daryls only outing in this car 9/3/94. For some reason after all that work he ran it both days at the SCR Nats and then it went back into storage again untill 2000.

I appreciate your offer of help, I am having a "fun" time tracking down parts. I may be in touch

I snagged a 63A trans tonight which "appears" to be a nearly bolt in affair and I am getting with a buddy of mine at Nissan Motorsports in TN. tomorrow to see what goodies are still around for this thing. I'll keep it posted somewhat!

Wicked score! She looks like a lot of fun and with all that history it will surely keep appreciating in value. Is it just me or are the front guards not the same? The drivers side looks a lot more squared off than the right... What motor will you run, A12,14,15? Or something else?
