Well i reckon it should be up to the individual how much info they wanna give when first joining and getting to know people etc. If there is to much demand on them straight off the bat they may just shy away. The internet and Forums have varying reputations. Easy Does It. My 20 cents worth

I don't know how dangerous it would be to include the info that one is located in Missouri USA, or Queensland Australia, or The Transvaal South Africa, even North Island N.Z.

That's a good start & at least tells us which country one is in. That's what I call basic location details & should be enough to start with.

Quite possable,so make it mandatory for a location,then we may not have as many cretins time wasting and using never to be used again user names just as Dodgy made us aware of recently.

Its not about whether its dangerous or not. Its about people and there different perceptions on privacy regarding the Internet and Forums. No matter how misconceived or insane it seems. It's there right to believe what they like. So to challenge that or appear to challenge it may just push them away. That was 50 cents worth there.

people will still ask dumb questions anyway... but hey we all do at times.... and if people dont ask questions we wont have a forum

that said... it does help a lot to know someone's location, its pretty basic information and the internet knows where you are anyway so don't kid yourself
