well compression is looking a little down in no.4 (ie NO compression lol). This could still be a timing belt problem I dont know, to be honest I dont care anymore.

Parts should start coming off it within the week. Prices may be revised from those listed below, if they go up and you dont like it, you dont have to tell me because I dont care. You pay it or you dont waste my time, its as simple as that.

cheers

Yeah if the valve is not closed you will not get pressure. I bought a L16 *freshly* rebuilt with an apparent blown h/g.

I went over it, 160psi across 1,2 and 3. No4 had 70psi, I torqued head and at same time did valve adjustment, they were all out a tad but on No.4 there was no clearance at all so it was holding the valves open.

get no.4 t.d.c. on compression stroke check valves are closed, cam lobes should be pointing up, on an L-series the rocker should move and there should be clearance between base circle of cam and rocker wipe pad. Not sure on the 4ag.

forgive my complete ignorance - but the gearboxes - condition? And is the price each, or for the both of them (sorry I have nfi of the market value at this point in time!)

I'm in melbourne, if the sale hypothetically went ahead, and items were paid for in full, would it be possible to hold on to them for up to approximately a month till I can organise pickup from someone who travels there and back from time to time?

There's only one, I took all the teeth off 3rd gear in the other. The one thats in it did maybe 5km before the motor went, with redline shockproof oil it was perfect, shifted smoothly and no noises. I'd want $300 for it and would be happy to hold it as long as its paid for in full.
