If you measure from the bottom of the inside of the tube up to the underside of the gland nut, that would be the smallest insert you could run without a spacer, then you can add maybe 10mm to that as you should have about an inch of thread to play with.

Insert lengths vary from different manufacturers also, ie. a koni insert for a 280zx might be a couple mm different length than a kyb for the same car, they normally give a few shims or spacers for either above or below the insert.

I know there shorter than original?

do you messure from the botom on the inside or to the bottom mounting face?

I would think so, as long as the slot aren't too deep.

I put a load of insert lengths into the wiki a while ago now, never added the 280zx info so would be good to know.

I don't actually know the length of the insert in my zx struts, i have never measured the body, I just ordered my konis revalved and that was that. Do you have some to measure?

Yeah will head down that track, was thinking z32/r32 rear calipers on the front? will be well light and should still pull up far better than my coupe break's i hav noW!

do any ov the other nissans hav the same diameter/length strut? like say a 510?
