it just occured to me that with a larger tunnel the standard 1200 carpet may not be large enough. i know that when you purchase new carpet it gives you a little extra but will it be enough. has anyone had this problem?

I had a similar problem, not in a datsun though.

You can buy marine carpet for a bit cheaper than moulded and then shape it with a heat gun. A little more hard wearing than auto carpet.

Yeah. I bought 1200 auto carpet, but with the tunnel mods for the CA18 gearbox, it needed a couple of wedges taken out. Basically, I need to scrap the whole idea, and take it to a auto trimmer who can do the front section properly with heatguns etc. Too much of a headache for me to deal with.

I also completely melted the carpet under the passenger side when I had to hobble home with an ignition problem when I first put the autronic in... The lesson I learned from that is... If you have ignition problem on one cylinder... identify which cylinder it is, and also disconnect the injector for that cylinder.. A CA14det works good enough to pull a 1200 along.

Possibly get a front carpet for something like a 180B, Skyline, 120y Auto and cut it down more so on the edges.Trufit don't cut any holes in there molded carpet ( well not in the one i got) so you could mark and cut holes where you need to.
