Your right there Jordy. Ive got an 2005 Xtrail and its bloody great and would love to upgrade to the new model. But nothing came out of last nights test. Just great fun and a Kluger with some front end damage

But thats what motor and wheels mag are for.

Yeah Jordy, I totally agree about TG AUS. We have a Subaru Forester and it's great, but with a family not enough room! My old man has the X-trail and loves it (it is more powerfull) but the 4WD system is a pain, cannot go over 80kph in 4wd. No problem for most people, but I love the safety & grip of constant 4wd (or AWD). In the end think carefully about both vehicles, they are both very good

I'm willing to give them a chance to find their feet, at least the celebrities are people we know and the politicians in the news of familiar names....you're right they are no where near as funny as the poms....but then the 1st season of UK topgear wasn't fantastic either.

I just think they all look like they are trying to hard.
I think give it a few weeks and they wont try and be so over the top about everything, they seemed to be yelling half the show.
Im going to give it a chance and see how it gose.
Also what was the point of havin the Lambo in the studio, none of the presenters or even the Stig took it for a flogging.......

Well if you pay the bucks to use the topgear format I guess you are going to use it

Thought it lacked an australian slant. The soft roader comparison was excellent in my opinion. But the cut and past of the news format, the stig and the set was disappointing.

Plus 3 guys trying to be actors and not having fun in their natural way. Mum always told me not to be someone I wasnt.

Will probally relax a little after a few episodes and be alright.

Yip, they diffinatly copied the UK original too closely. Well that's what they paid for. But I think they went to far trying to copy the original. Even the hosts try to play the same type of role within the show.

It seemed to me that everything they said was pre scripted to the letter. There didn't seem to be any spirit of the moment funnies. And the ones they tried to use didn't hit the mark. Almost as if all their gags were scripted. Yeah I think they should use certain aspects of the original, but modifiy it to suit our market.

BTW - I wasn't suppries to see the GTR lap the quickest. That thing runs very very low 11s on the quarter. I was chatting to Haltech at the jamboree and they expect this car to run tens very soon. Apparently when the car hits the limiter it will not give you 100% power back straight away so the car will effectivly "nose over" and have to build up its HP again. They haven't changed the exhaust or inlet and they got around 390kw@ wheels with their ECU! BEAST!!!!!!

I agree,it was too close to the Pommy version, they need to find a new angle, but i feared the worst and it finally came at the end of the hour...Holden v's Ford next week BOOORING!!

It reminded me of when an artist or band do a song thats a big hit, then others try the same song and it belly flops.

I think there is a niche somewhere between Speedweek and Pommy Topgear that could work, with more club motor sport, vehicle builds(like ours)testing said cars with no more than 50%V8's in the mix.

Lets face it,watching a Porsche being driven on a Tassie road at the obscene speed of 100kliks was as good as it's gunna get in this nanny country.Time to think outside the square,or be satisfied with one season of Top Gear Aus.
Next Monday i'll be watering my new tomato plants.

no chance! its definitely going to remain a total copy of the UK TopGear - that's what SBS paid for - the rights to use the exact same format.

It was lame. Stig summed it up perfectly - he can't drive for ####! And one can only assume the few edited bits they showed of his in-car footage were the highlight of his driving!
