i think they are killer ugly ... i'd much rather a cheap reliable little ute which is still made of mostly steel not plastic

I wonder how the 2007 Bakkie Champ & the 2008 Renault Fraud compare in the stakes where it really counts.

Crash repair costs & maintainance costs, comparing apples to apples.
Those ghastly tail lights won't be cheap to buy [but I bet they were cheap to make] & compare windscreen, front mudguards, bumper grille & bonnet prices.
I know that I'd rather be paying for generic round or rectangular headlights too & these things are regarded as consumable service items in some rural areas, so common is stone damage to them.

When it comes to a workhorse, not a show pony, I know which I'd rather be driving.
