A bare 13b block weighs as much as an L series.

Suzuki sierra boxes are weak and better to use celica box w57/58 or Mazda 929 rwd box with Hybrid bellhousing. This is what sierra people do when using turbo or 1740cc versions of the g16.

Use the first 2-3 inches of the vitara box bellhousing engine mating section and weld onto 2-3 inches removed from celica bellhousing usually the 2S rwd W series boxes or others.

Motorbikes engines are expensive unless you use a small capacity one and turbo. eg 600cc.

There is a QR20DE engine with missing exhaust cam still available at EKW for 600AUD, should be good as you need to change cams anyway for big hp.
However I prefer the MR20de now as its supposedly very compact in dimensions.

13b rotary is a good suggestion for a fire-breathing race engine but unfortunatly i dispise rotary engines (wank wanks! ) i would rather stick my wedding tackle into a blender, if you know what i mean, but its always an option!

Gti twin cam engine i can get for $600, but i rang a few places and haven't been able to source a sierra box as yet, but i'll keep my ear to the ground so to speak, you never know i might be able to get one. I'll keep researching that option further.

A noble member on this site has offered me an A-series engine that's worked and has 120hp at the treads, that is a great option, and the easiest by far.

I'm keeping my options open and throwing ideas out there.

As for the bike engine in a 1000...... !
I have read through the site that Ianey put in his last post and i'm going to investigate it further but to be honest it's very unlikley that i'll go down that road, but someone has got to be the guinea pig! and do it so of the rest of us can follow! lol

I only wish that Nissan made motorbikes like Suzuki and Honda do! I don't think you could use it in improved production though because sequential shift is not allowed.
If you are interested in bike engines, the term is 'bike engined car'. If you search this you will find heaps of into.

BEC website

The three main gearboxes are the blackbird reverser, reversion and BGH Geartech. (costs roughly 550 pounds)

need an engine that is powerfull and light and relativly easy to obtain and that will be used in a race car? 13b rotary.... but all depends if the rules allow it.....
and with the front brakes if you are going to be putting in a full cage you may as well make up all custom mounts and use a holden hq v8 ute front end

Heres a pic i posted a while ago of my turbo setup D,

It's changed a little since then.
Basically it's an A14 bored 40 thou, T25 on a J-bend manifold, compression plate, turbo cam grind and running a 350 holley with some other goodies, it's been intercooled recently and i wound the boost up to 20 psi before it started to ping a bit, blew another diff recently and needs suspension and brake upgrades, which is expected,

But it's not a race setup, looking for a simple set up thats cost effective. I would like to develop this set up more but i'm getting to the stage where i'm keeping my eye out for an alternative.

What the QR20de out of? tiida? or x-trail? or somthing of the like? i heard ages ago that they weren't being released in oz and i haven't seen or heard of anything since, that was a couple of years ago though.

Does anyone in austrailia make the haybusa gearbox? or are they strictly an import item from the UK? it would be a great alternative and a head turner and a ball tearer!!!!!

steveo whats your a14 turbo setup?

would you be happy with 200hp at the threads?

If you are not worried about pollution gear since its going to be a race car then you would find it hard to overlook an qr20de with wolfe cams, cleaned up ports and exhaust ports, balancer removal kit, quad bike carbs and tuned exhaust. A responsive 220hp would be enough no?

Don yes still got the 1k, not selling now I was delirious.

so a bike clutch would be decent for taking off? i wouldve thought trying to lug a car off the line would be hell on it.
ive seen one of those scale fj holden racers with a bike engine, so i know what you mean by shaft of the engine deal.
how would you get around the reverse shamozzle? eleccy reverse? didnt some bikes have reverse like the goldwings or something?

sorry this is getting a bit off track..

You use the bike clutch and gearbox, it's all intergrated into one package. The only problem is difficulty selecting neutral and having reverse. So that gearbox that I was talking about earlier, it connects directly to the gearbox output (where the sprocket on the bike used to go), with forward, neutral and reverse. From that, you have your drive shaft. It would be mighty fun
