Depends on if you want a little bit of power and the prospect of economy (Dodgeman will be able to inform you on everything to do wit the SU/Hitachi's) or more power with no prospect of economy?

Twin SUs will be better than a single weber.

It also depends on which SUs you have. Some have poor performance for emission control. If yours work good, it's fine, otherwise you might try to find a genuine pair of Datsun 1200 GX Hitachi carburetors, those work perfectly with the GX engine.

Webers and delllortos make more power if the engine has the right bits for it but need a zillion jets and a tuning expert with time. Jets are expensive or have to be hunted down with patience.

Sus are not as responsive but are good all round economy and performance carsb suiting a mild engine better and needs 2 parts (a needle each) and hardly any tuning skills.

Single weber over twin sus, the latter for sure. If its an all out motor then Id skip webers and go flat slides or performance bike cars which leap frog webers.

Twin SU's are a pretty good bang for the buck. pretty good economy even w/richer needles. A set of twin DCOE webbers can't be beat though.

Road and Track Magazine added a set of Webbers to a stock TR4 and only gained 10 HP for a $2000 investment.

The SU is a simple elegant design. That said, it suffers from cheap materials and needs constant care. The biggest, hardest to solve problem is that the cheap metal in the throttle body wears out where the throttle shaft goes thru. That lets air in at the shaft and the misalignment of the shaft keeps the butterfly from seating properly in idle position, making idle adjustment difficult. Not a problem for racing machinery.

There used to be a tool for boring the throttle shaft hole so that a bushing could be inserted.
