So, apart from the square tops, are these the pollution carbs? Also, Can you get as much performance from the square tops as you can from the proper round top GX carbs?

Typical ebay listing

There is no intentional misinformation here, just a genuine attempt to sell a pair of Datsun factory twin carbs honestly with a $1 starting price.

In my 22 years of owning and working on A series Datsuns these have always been referred to as GX carbys by everyone I know.

No Revhead they are not pollution carbys and yes they do provide as good performance as "proper" round tops.

As far as I am aware the only A series engines to get them were A12 GX's and A14GX's. Now before anyone jumps up and down saying there is no such thing as an A14GX there is and I have had a few engines and a car. When in Japan cruising the wrecking yards many moons ago I recall seeing at less five A14 's with twin Hitachi's lying around unloved. NZ got a lot of this sort of stuff in the 80's usually as filler in containers coming here full of Jap import cars. NZ was lucky in that regard, I recently dismantled an extremely rusty 120Y GX which was a NZ new model which sold alongside the nana versions and the cooking SSS with twin Dellorto's.

The carbs look like 610 SSS type.

But the manifold is an A12GX manifold. The carbs do not match this manifold.

The B210 GX cars had a twin-carb engine officially referred to as the A12T engine (1973-1974) or the A14T engine (1975-). So most likely these are GX carbs -- from B210 GX car. But they could be from 610 SSS or other Datsun model.

The flat-top Hitachis have anti-pollution changes to them, compared to the dome-tops.

DD I would be very interested to know what it is about these carbs that makes you say they dont match the manifold.

As for the question of pollution, I always thought the pollution carbs looked like this.

andy, i think dd already said why, these carbs are off a 180b but the manifold is a12 so really they dont match from the factory but have been modded to suit.i would imagine these are probably higher flowing than a12gx and would go much better....

Thanks Kegs for thinking they would flow better if they were off a 180B but what DD actually said was,
