both great engines including the a series. The CA is getting harder to find off the shelf and resonably priced perfromance parts now. I think the CA and the 1200 are a great match, but I went SR due to the wide variety of parts available and engines are only $500 for a good one (stock).
Mind you the SR was a dog to get in the 1200....ah I love the A series...

i dont know?, because the the best motor for power was / is the FJ, i'm not a fan of alloy block & OHV motors.

I love the A series as well, but wanted the lil Sunny to be powerful but with the driveability that can only come from a stockish motor.
I was never going to get that from an A series, and chose the SR as it's newer and has 200cc of extra bragging rights..

Sr due to timing chain but Ca due to size and power... it is more than enough for a 1200... SR just seems like overkill and everyone wants one since they comannd a pretty price a week out from racewars.

that's OK, there aren't many alloy blocked OHV motors around! A few old V8s and a couple of V6s. that's about it.

Hmmmm, now how hard would it be to make a replacement A series block in alloy? With an AY head it would be very light & very grunty, just the way we like it.

Alloy block + AY head = mmmmm [excuse me, I just need a private moment here]

I think that one of the reasons that some don't much like the A series is because it's so humiliating to be beaten by a dinosour design from the dawn of [automotive] time that costs [by comparison] pocket change, is easy & cheap to maintain & service & makes their new fangled la-de-da engines look crook.

Well, that's my story anyway.
