no, that's not true, there is definitely a lot of bikes out there with cats in them. i know for sure that both the ducati monster s4r and 620 have cats from the factory because mum and dad replaced the exhausts in theirs.
zx-14 does seem to be a very good engine, dad has one and not that he'd know but it does 180kp/h in 2nd gear with standard everything except the secondary throttle bodies removed or something like that and yoshi slip ons. i'm not sure what gearing you'd use for a car, the zx-14 is speed limited to 300kp/h but i'm not sure if the motor would push a car to those speeds?

Well I know I won't be getting a Duc engine anyway... to expensive! I'm not all that into bikes, so I can only speak from what I've been told. The ZX series is the one my mate is trying to push me on to, but as I said, I think something a bit more torquey is the key.
Also not really that interested in pushing the car up to 300km/h! Even 200km/h is probably too much. Do like the shifting in a bike though.

I've seen some vids with a few different mini's in europe that have the hayabusa engine fitted into them. In every case it has a smiling driver, a sh1t scared passenger and alot of smoke!!

Giggety Giggety... Giggety Goo!!

any high performance/high cc bike engine will have more then enough torque to push a sub 700kg car along quite well so dont be worried about that

the zx-14 has 154nm of torque at 7,500rpm.
the new yamaha vmax engine would be interesting, 1.7 litre v4 with, and i quote yamaha, " 147.2 kW (200 bhp at 9000 rpm, together with a huge
torque output of 166.8 Nm (17.0 kg-m) at 6500 rpm."
to early for cheap engines to be popping up just yet, won't be a while for that i think.

hey why dont you try to find a dog box (like in a sprint car) or you could get one from a ditch witch or some thing like that

Little more progress. After studying for the past 9 months, the cash is starting to flow a little more. Got these in the mail today. Got these from the UK for $160(AUD) posted! Bargain. If anyone is keen, I can get you on to him. Next will be the fibreglass front guards and bonnet and I am going to reproduce the tailgate with fibreglass too.

Looks pretty bad with the jellybeans, but I'll try to get a pic with the rims on. Also looking at getting my hands on a Datto 1200 ute rear, so it should push the rims out a little too.

if your still goin the bike motor route i would be looking at the clutch as the weak point and make sure you got the right diff ratio's, i can't see the clutch lasting very long at all you'll be forever replacing them and it sucks

i reckon it would be heaps easyer to try putting a CA in it or a mild A series and then yopu know that the clutch and output shafts wont snap of like it could on a motor bike motor
but it would be cool to have a busa in a 1000 ute :)
