Just having a bit of a bitch.

I organised to get some parts through a member on another site, we organised a price, I got all the courier quotes, organised pickup and wouldn't you know it, he decides to sell it to someone else after giving me his word on it that we were all sweet.

The worst part is that I was all excited about it and it was going to take the van in a new direction and then all gone. No more. All because someone came through with another $50. Prick.

Being raised by my gran I am a bit old school like that. She always said to me "A man is only as good as his word." I have always tried to dish out good karma, giving away freebies and taking care of people price wise but I have been reinspired. No more. With an exempt few I don't think I'll bother with it any more. Top dollar or the bin. I'm sure I haven't been burnt for the last time but it's the last time that I'll shrug it off.

you did all that messing around organising couriers and stuff but you didn't even give him a deposit?

I'm trying to sell my Supra at the moment. I have a guy who says he wants it, we've agreed on a price and he's trying to get finance as we speak, but he hasn't left a holding deposit. So if someone elso comes along with money here and now, I'll sell it without the slightest hesitation. No holding deposit, no holding the goods. simple

Think that defeats the whole title of the thread A mans word is a deposit. Sure if he doesnt come back within a reasonable amount of time then its fair to say there not buying it and or its to late.

Honestly, thanks for the replies. When I first posted I was still seething over the whole thing. Now... Nope, I'm still pissed off but at least I am back to hanging crap on Mik. So it's all good. I won't become what I loath. But I have officially been burnt too many times.

I just love that hahaha! It used to b "if u can fix it u can have it" but he was "if u fix it u cant have it", incredible.
A couple of years ago I agreed over the phone to buy a 7x4 motorbike trailer for a set price, when I got there the old bloke selling it was in a foul mood because someone else had turned up wanting it and offered more. Well he did keep it for me at least but asked for an extra 50$!

that was in relation to aidaniels story btw.
