I have been having trouble with my headlights. Put it down to the switch at my first inspection so our good friend DatsAndy shoots me a switch. It checks out, so out with the old in with the new, STILL NO LIGHTS Check old switch it is ok So, out with the dash and into the wireing we go. The last of the great white electrical hunters stalking its elusive pray. Hours into the hunt we have power but only intermitently, WTF Now I checked the fuses but not the fuse box. A bad fuse! Not Blown but broken under the nickle cap Looked OK tested OK but it would make then not make a contact and a loose mains conection. I am such a D1CK 5 minute job turned into 5 hours. I am looking for some understanding and compassion here because I told my friend and his reply was, you guessed it! YOU ARE SUCH A D1CK!!!

That's happened to me, it is the nature of electrical work I think.

HA HA Gotta love the electrical Mind games. Once i replaced the main plug with ignition wires in it cause the old one was perished. Put all dash back in and everything she would start but i had to hold the key on and when i let it go it would die tried heaps of stuff the ignition the starter motor. Could it be the plug (Denial creeps In at this point)? finally said to self Self check the plug pulled the plug off well the plastic part that contains all the individual wires then just connected them all up and bang started and ran. Now the wires are individually heat shrinked and bound with electrical tape. Was the new plastic housing $9 to throw it over the shoulder and me pup chewed it up. Made a good dogs toy i guess. Moral to the story, Your not alone Pete.

Thats why they call it elecTRICKery....
I feel the pain.....

My first pootrol had intermitant faults everywhere. i would contantly blow fuses, and generally be a pain in the arse.

took it to a sparky who said that it was a dodgy fuse holder.
Replaced that, still no joy.

My brother and I found out what happened in the end.
I had split a battery apart out driving one day, and the acid had leaked over the main harness and back into a big connector. The battery acid slowly ate the wires and corroded the connector. It all looked fine on the outside, but internally it was shot. It would even test fine with a multimeter when ever we checked.

Once we found that out, and realised it needed a rewire, it was promptly sold to a dealership for $3000. (gotta love the minimum trade in deal)

Electrickery is just one of those painful things that old cars come with.

when you look at most of the posts on this site of people at their wits end over something, its almost always about intermitant electrical faults.

I share you pain...
