nice effort on the fab work. wish I could weld like that. (I tend to be a bird poop welder, unless the planets line up)

Make the runners as long as possible, if your goal is to maximize HP at lower RPMs.

So how would the engine behave at the mid-range & high RMP with the carb on these long runners?

maybe instead of 100HP, it'll only get 98HP. Just guessing. But that could be the difference between winning or losing a race.

who says 45's are too big.. a single 45 would work..

the Jap tuners run a pair of 40's on A10 & A12's
and a pair of 45's on A14 & A15's...

True that.

Sidedraught's current engine is running twin 45's.

I thought they were rather common!

Yeah,ease up Steve,i had a single 45 with big chokes on the orange KB10 and twin 45's on the sedan and they seemed to go OK
Cheers

i'm running twin 40s on my A12 in the sedan and used to run a single 45 on a stock A12 in 120y

One 45 on a plenum manifold is nearly equal (as far as airflow) to a Dual 45s on individual runners (no plenum). The Duals have a slight CFM advantage but it's not much.

Now, two 45s on a plenum would be twice the CFM rating ...

Here is the sizing:Quote:
* Weber "40" (40mm bore) can fit chokes of 29mm to 36mm
* Weber "45" (45mm bore) can fit chokes of 32mm to 40mm

Bore Sizing

40s are just slightly too big for a stock A12, but for a high HP 8000 RPM engine, either 40s or 45s match up well.
