Can the experienced tell me if this Mig welder Gas/Gasless will do me for learning to weld and do rust repairs on my project car.

perhaps for the cash it may be ok, id prefer have a better current adjusment on it though. for basic rust repairs it might just be the ticket.
how does it go for after sales support and parts?
hopefully someone on here has the same model and can give you some idea on how they run.

As a boilermaker i can strongly suggest you go with a good qualitiy 'name' brand, like a CIG or the like. they will cost alot more but the end product and quality of the weld is so much better and easier when you get more confident with welding, it all about practice.

As a metal work teacher you cant go past a quality welder.

That said I have a Ryobi MIG at home and the main problem is that it only has 4 current settings. I can wels upto 3mm steel with it and get good quality results. But it is easier to weld with the welders I have at work. I purchased a regulator and rent a bottle of argon for it as well. As gasless wire is crap and the handiman bottles of gas you can buy for these will not last long at all.

Also check how redily available tips for this welder are and the gas diffuser as you will chew through a couple of these if you are learning.

my opinion exactly! you'll want to make sure that spares are readily available, and not to expensive. Those smaller 'handy man' bottles available at bunnings and hardware stores only last 4-6 minutes of continuous welding which isn't much at all, Flux core is not to bad but it isn't to good either. Don't get me wrong a cheaper will do the job, but for how long? an unreliabe welder isn't worth $2!

Choose carefully! Go into a speicalised welding shop and ask questions, thats my advice.
