I love all dattos but the apple of my eye is my 1200 wagon!
Rarest 1200 variant made in oz and the most versatile too, me thinks. You can have 4 people in it or fold up the back seat and carry plenty of cargo. Someone hit the nail on the head in calling the 1600 mainstream before, they seem to be the flagship Datsun, with their impressive rallying history and all. Honestly I'd love a nice one but it's been a long time since i've seen one that doesn't have a rollcage, sunroof, gay huge chrome exhaust tip and heaps of other mods. 1200 utes are getting the same way, hard to find in good nick. Mine's not too bad but many were abused - not maintained and overloaded.

i love pretty much every datsun but 1200 coupe is my first choice. i will never look down on any model of datsun because they can each be better than each other in so many different ways. it all depends how well they are looked after and whether or not they have descent or no modification. they can all be beautiful and usually all are

i never meant to love dattos... i was a torana lover. my car got defected. i swapped a 34cm #### T.V. that wasnt even mine for a 1200 sedan. sold the torry. after that i just kept getting 1200s. had like 5 different ones. then this a series love turned into a 120y coupe. the beautiful ugly!
im sure if that first datto was a 1600 i would have had a heap and then ended up with a 180b or some other L car.

I own both a 1200, and a 1600.
I've not had too much attitude form the 510 brigade here in NZ, but our datto community is pretty close knit. If you want to meet a pack of wankers, Z owners (with some exceptions of course) take the cake. They are a bunck of mid life crisis homo's. They''d be better suited to MG's or some other "classisc" car marque.

Hmmmm, which is best, KB10 [1000 Coupe] or 1200 Coupe, ....... KB10, 1200, KB10, 1200. Ahhhh who cares, I have one of each.
The KB10 is [for me] the better 'project' car while the 1200 makes the better hack car of the two. You can view topic.
