i bought and sold a car in june of last year but when i sold it i only got the guy to sign a piece of paper saying i sold it to him and now i have two speeding tickets for this car from january. im just real f"""n pissed at the fact that people cant do things the right way and #### it up for everybody else. i now cant transfer the tickets because i dont have enough info on the bloke and the police are saying theres nothing i can do!!!!!!!!!! if i cant produce an address for the bloke then the fines will stay in my name. i can even prove that i wasnt in the state for one of them. grrrr. i still have the blokes phone number but it is saying that its unavaliable when i call it so i presume that he has changed numbers has anybody got any idea as to what i can do here?

report it stolen and you get you car back for free. if he does have the paper work and shows the cops then the cops have his details

The cops will tell you anything to get SOMEONE to pay the fine. They dont care where it comes from. We all know its about revenue raising.
However, it is illegal for you to admit to doing something u didnt do just as it is ilegal for you to say you didnt do somethng you did do, its called purgery. Elect for a court hearing...

Then as far as i'm concirned, from the transport dep't point of view, you never owned the car(because it was not registered in your name)and the last REGISTERED owner is liable for any money or fines outstanding.
If you buy or sell a car un registered...you can't legally drive it on the road,so you can't get a speeding ticket or any thing else. This is not your problem!! Call legal aid for further advice.

i had something similar happen with my pathfinder... took 2 stat decs and a few phone calls but all sorted.... yes call the police and legal aid and the RTA and im sure a couple more stat decs will sort it all out.
