The manual shows a longer complete disassembly procedure that seems better to avoid in this case...
Yes. What manual do you have?

I'm not sure about shipping. But I have a family member who is going to california in june. Pull your gearbox down, and if it is what you need, I could get them to send it from over there. That would be a massive cost saving. I've already got them picking up loads of treasure that I've had sent to the people they'll be staying with.

I had the same problem in my old 1200 rally car, it happened pretty suddenly. I lost 1st & 3rd gears not sure about reverse, anyway I lined up the gear lever with first gear and gave it a good whack, it went in and I kept driving. I can't recomend doing this but it worked for me & lasted another 6 months.

I might be able to afford the shipping on the finger, you may not want to pay the shipping on the tranny from Los Angeles California 90026!
How much to liberate the finger mate?

actually, I might have a spare striker finger for one of these boxes. I think it's going to be too hard to fix. You should just give it to me. Mine is getting a bit crunchy, and I could use a spare. lol

Salutations B2Slow: I would say revhead001 is on the right track; especicially if 1, 3, &5th work. If you are confident in your abilities; you can remove the rear extension housing and inspect/repair yourself as your problem almost certainly lies there. If you are not confident, an experienced transmission tech could more then likely identify and repair your tranny in 10 mins with the rear housing off. You could certainly get a quote for an inspection. Damage to syncros or gears need not be expected for this gripe. Let us know what the cause was ,when you find out.

You could sell the gearbox to a woman my dad knows. We have double demerit points on long weekends. So this woman decided to drive a 50 kms return trip in 2nd gear so she wouldn't get a speeding fine. Otherwise I am not much help with a solution to your problem.
