Stock OEM head heights / thickness ??
edp
Posted on: 2009/5/20 15:42
Hi all, does anyone know what the original stock height of an H72 head would be ? I'd like to check & see what its at now to figure out how much has been milled off before. Its stamped H72, I think its off an A14 from a B210.
Who's got these facts floating around out there???? Thanks, Evan

Thanks, evan

Thickness? Measure the CC to see if it has been milled, but dunno what an H72 head should be.
I would eyeball the thickness of the head face. How does it look compared to other heads you have?

Having never done that before I guess I didn't think of the CC test. I just assumed one could start with an OEM height/thickness & deduct the current # to tell what'd been removed.
If you do have that # Dazza I'd appreciate it! Thanks ,Evan BTW DD - you get what you need on Sat. from pull a part?

I have a gx head that's 73.6mm.
I don't know if it's been shaved, though. If it has, it's not much. The area under the thermostat hasn't been touched. Interesting how that's not in the service manual. I was expecting to find something like a "service limit" for head thickness. You know, like for rotors.

that was kinda my thought as well, rotor's a good example. I've got 2 or 3 other heads but their round port not oval, dont know if it matters but their different so a comparison's kind of tough.
