New owner of a modified and salvaged 1971 1200/B110/Sunny in the hopes of it being a good project car. However, I'm running into difficulties finding parts. Therefore, I'm sending out a S.O.S. for those who may want to help out a Datsun fan. For starters, I NEED a wiper switch. If anyone beyond the cyberspace is able to help me please contact me here. Thanks in advance!

Your friendly local Nissan dealer can get you that part. Depending on which country or state you live in.

Thanks for your reply. I live in central California, Fresno to be exact. My personal experiences with dealers here are not exactly perfect. Maybe it was just the one tech I talked to but he left me with a bad taste in my mouth. What he said to me was, "a '71!? Good luck in finding parts for your old car, 'cause you're gonna need it" and hung up on me. I thought of calling back and talk to the parts manager but I took a call and got busy and never followed through. So, here I am. Anyways, thanks for your assistance.

Yes, that's the typical Nissan dealer response. I guess i should have put "friendly local Nissan dealer" in bold on Friendly. In Seattle area, there are two dealers (out of many more) that are friendly to old Datsun queries. Maybe 1/3 of all parts are still available, but most body and trim parts are not.

Aeon,
In about 2 weeks I'll be at one of our local Nissan dealers to look up some parts for my ride, I'll check on a wiper switch for you. If you want to PM me your short list I can check on those too.

Hey guys!!
First and foremost, I need to thank ddgonzal and kelmo for coming to my assistance. O.K., where do I start...? Well, if I had my car here instead of at the carburetor shop where I bought it from I would take a few pictures so all of you would see that it is not a matter of which parts I need, but which parts I don't need. (so why in the *&*%^$# did I buy it? 'cause I've always wanted one!) Ahem, anyway, what I need to get back on the road is a (new car) no, actually a wiper and a light switch. All other parts like a passenger and rear seats and other comfort stuff can be gotten later. So, call me crazy, whatever, but I really do appreciate your help, guys. Thanks.

Ok, Crazy (ha ha),
I will check on the switches for you when I go by the dealership.
I'll either post the info up here or PM ya.

I have found that fronting the parts counter will usually get better results.
Ask the counterman to produce the parts book if he tries to fob you off. Ask for the parts manager if he is a jerk.

I am fortunate enough to have my own parts books & can quote the actual part number[s] & with a little insistance he will check the number in the system.

If he is a pain, then you be a bigger pain & with some luck he will do his job properly just to get rid of you.

In my case, I have been buying Datsun parts from the same sales staff at the same dealership for the same cars for almost 30 years, so they know me well.

Of course, with Kelmo here, you have a very '1200 friendly' parts man right here online & he has been a great help, even to me here in Australia.

To Kelmo,
Thanks for your help. I am indebted to your service. Not too sure if, ever, I can return the favor, I will. Count on it.
To DattoMaster,
It is cool to correspond to someone at the opposite side of this planet (thanks to the inter-web, I guess!) I really appreciate your advise. ...a Datsun parts book, eh?...hey, Kelmo...? Can I get one of those too, maybe? Don't mind me I'm just being a jerk, I am kidding, of course, but, if there actually is a part number for my wiper switch that would be a great help.
You know, I'm beginning to find that the process of finding these almost impossible to get parts just might be as much fun as actually restoring the car and driving it! So, this is how the journey begins...stay tuned!
P.S.
Happy 4th of July! (Thomas Jefferson said, according to Mr. Jenkins (National Public Radio); Why do we celebrate the 4th of July? To celebrate a "working government." Just a bit of trivia I heard...
