good luck with new carbs
i couldnt give up, i would need to no problem
my guess is the casting is pooruss/tinny little holes
was once blocked, carby soked and cleaned now leaks
had this prob before

I know there is probly a set of 45s on now. But I will throw in my bit cos I would like to know what is wrong. Have you heard of a leak detection machine that injects smoke under pressure into small areas. ie exhausts intakes. I use one of these at work & they work extremly well. If you can get the use of one remove the float bowl cover & fill the ventury up & you will see a small trace of smoke coming up from any small cracks. Did you try a differant fuel supply to elimanate any fuel tank issues?

has a 35mm crack in the float bowl over where the venturi sits, problem found.

Lets just hope that the 45's are the italian made and not the spanish ones. I have heard a few bad reports about them now in reguards to poor casting quality, made from USA's famous 'Cheese' aluminium.

I'm gald you found the problem was a faulty carb. It shouldnt have taken that much to find it thou. A good mate of mine braught 4 webers & manifold for his 65 289cui mustang. When he got them he found cracks in the housing where the idle screw seats. pretty poor I think you would want them perfect for 4k plus. They have been sent back for a refund

Well, the carb master with one last ditch attempt braught me 2 more race prep'd 27's....

Dropped them in, car runs like it never has before, i think i might actualy have a winning combo at long last,,, not even a drop out the trumpets!!!
