I dont know if you guys call it by the same name but here we get scotch bright pads they dont leave swirl marks. And try and get a tac rag. Thats like a very sticky cloth you wipe over the area you want to spray it picks up all the unseen dust

yea man sorry but she's shagged i'd say lol did you wipe it down properly before you sprayed it? well you just need to decide what route you wanna take i reckon a panel shop is gonna cost ya an arm n leg. if you have another chop at it you can get primer to go over 2-pac just make sure the rooms all dust proof, an have a go at sprayin yourself it's not that hard especially if your sprayin a solid colour give it a go on the inside of your panels or somethen

Hey Gav,
Sorry to hear you're having more paint troubles. I feel even sorrier for your old man. I am interested more in the equipment you are using. You aren't using cheap and nasties are you? If you don't have the gun set right you can get all sorts of spitting and slag coming off the nozzle etc. The air-hose or paint pot you were using could have been dirty as well? The paint should flash off in a matter of minutes so unless your work area is really messy then it shouldn't be too difficult to achieve a decent coat. Any chance you could take a picture of one of the worst areas and one the best?? Low Quality Equipment? Dirty Work Area (or compressor kicking up dirt)? Dirty Equipment?

Sand it back to take the gloss off and try another coat on a spot area (maybe a panel) and make sure everything is clean. If it turns out alright then go hard and get the lot done.
If it still gets crappy you should at least be able to determine what the problem is.

His equipment is good, he has painted cars before and its been fine. I think its just a dirty work space and my old man getting a bit lazy.
I know he is only trying to help, we are cool and he knows he deserves sack. He was just as dissapointed as me. If I cant find a pannel shop to do it I might have to give it another try. Thanks for the advice I will try and get some good pics, the back of the car looked sweet. Can anybody recommend a pannel shop?

the only thing i can suggest if you haven't painted anything before is go and get a book, something along these lines, it is a good book with alot of good tips and tricks, he explains thing in lehmans terms, i highly recomend it for a beginner.
