Jan 5th will be a little early to have it fully functioning. The initial load testing will be just to test the integrity of the design. If it all checks out ok i will still have to make up the covers and then start on the testing of the software. I`d say it will be into Feb before full opperation.
I`ll organise a dyno day some time soon after this. Because of the current dyno location i`ll be restricted to road cars at this stage.

I don't mind just dropping in to check out the work in progress (wasn't expecting to put my car on this dyno), also keen to see your 1200 and chat about media blasting too...another site member would probably come along for the ride too.
See how your traveling after the new year and we might be able to set something up.

So how's it going sikyne?
Still interested in a drive....been a little distracted with house stuff the last month - should clear up before end of Feb, still keen for a visit. How's the datto and the dyno going?

Its always the way, something that you think will take a day takes a week and something that you think will take a month takes a year!!
Anyway..... Ive got this machine ready to do some basic testing. I will bolt the wifes car up to it on Sunday as I have only 4 stud adaptors as this stage. This test will only be to test for vibrations and the mechanical side of things. The control system will be finished in a couple of weeks. Datto dyno day sometime after that!!

Sounds Golden you Balla Rat!
If you need to test the accuracy at the lower end scale of testing Im sure my stock higher comp a12 will help in the 20-40hp atw range If lower required then my mazda 800cc tudor wags in the 10-20hp atw and if ya need to go lower my jdm micro folding commuter bicycle will help in the -1 to 0.5 hp range :)

Hi D, You have just reminded me i still need to make a calibration arm to calibrate the load cells.
It should be great for cars making low power because of the dyno type. Just bring what ever you like i say!

G'day,
Nice work on the dyno! I have a back ground in control if you get stuck at any point. I know a bit of classical control and state space control and am pretty handy with Matlab and Simulink. I don't think an eddy current retarder is linear but these things can be modelled and tamed. Cheers

Im very happy! Mechanical test went well on Sunday, no vibrations or issues up to 195Kmh.
Cant wait to find some more time to get speed sensors mounted and test the control system. Thanks for the offer Lamb-daiquiri, The system has three 16bit processors and uses a high speed PID loop for retarder speed control. I am more of a designer/fabricator and the programing and design on the electronics side is beyond me. I met a electical engineer from QLD at an EFI University tunning course i attended. He has been designing and programing the system. It has been bench tested and all the systems seem to work well. I`ll test it on the dyno in the next couple of weeks. Thanks for your offer, If we have any trouble i`ll be sure to give you a call. Cheers You can view topic.
